Was over the moon about a change of ownership, only to find out the new lot are Torys.

I'm loathe to trust them due to the fundamentally abhorrent politics they support. Not to mention their complete and utter contempt for anyone who isn't wealthy or who happens to be living outside the home counties.

Proud working class club in an area the conservatives have had a good go at destroying taken over by that lot won't end well. They'll be in it for the cheap real estate in a financially distressed areas no doubt. Class.
Anyone who was vehemently opposed to Short needs to show support and trust to new owners.

I trust anyone who is a Tory to understand economics and what living within your means is.For what it's worth, cast your mind back to your trade union left who wanted their banner back when Di-Canio was manger ?What an arsehole publicity stunt that was ,which I will never forgive.Or David Miliband ,he really looked after our interests didn't he the prick that he is.

Aye, Tory controlled Northampton County Council certainly gave a new meaning to living within your means.

Agree with the sentiment completely BUT we have a precedent in our Club’s history - (Sir) Tom Cowie when he was “owner”. He was an ardent Conservative supporter both locally and nationally. We’ll just have to wait and see how things work out.
That's not really selling it marra! FWIW I doubt there are many socialist billionaires and whilst I am certainly a leftie not all Tories are bad, I quite like Ken Clarke.

Old-fashioned imperialist would be more accurate, although the Monday Club has always operated towards the right wing of the Tories, being in general anti-immigrant and anti-European.
Ah yes got you more Enoch Powell than Macmillan. I remember a Conservative leader of Sunderland Council back in the day who stood up for the then Town against Newcastle unlike the Labour lot of today who kowtow crawl and lick the asses of the evil Novacastrians

Hmmmm jazzz nice.

If The Don didn’t realise why he shouldn’t wash up on a big clubs message board one read of this thread will put him right.

He’s a good operator on the whole. A slight enigma, being a red trouser wearing, old Etonian but football and sport crazy. I know him as I was up at Oxford Uni at the same time as him and we both used to drink at Vincents Club on Fridays. He was a golf half-blue. Mad keen Oxford United fan even back the. (1998). Was good to chat football with him amongst all the rugger buggers. He is prob worth £3-4m himself but has a great network. The only fly in the ointment is that he raised £10m to launch his newspaper called The Sportsman which went bust in 2006. Definitely an improvement on what we’ve got.

PS roll on the West Country away games, FTM.
I remember The Sportsman. Lasted about a fortnight. Had the proper news on the back couple of pages iirc. Great in principle but wasn’t that good a read tbh.
