False Widow Spider - HELP!

If they stay still for too long they omit a signal to others in the surrounding area. Best get the kettle on as you'll be getting some visitors shortly

Just out of interest, what area do you live in?

Just working out if I should fire bomb the trees near mine (bottom of Shiney Raaaaa)
I think you're safe in Shiney unless it legs it up from that London.
I never kill spiders or any insects really. They'll be more scared of you than you are of them. Release it and let it get on with its (short) life.

I’ve got two one year olds man. And a cat. Think it’s less harmless if they bite young kids. It’s getting stamped on. I just need to psych myself up for it.

If your cat's anything like mine, it'll pull 6 or 7 of its legs off rendering it immobile but alive as some sort of cruel, sadistic punishment so let the cat at it if you want rid of it.

Alternately, as others have said, stick it out in the garden. Outdoors, they perform a welcome service in ridding us of insects. Mating season is May to July so its unlikely there'll be any egg coccoons anywhere yet, particularly given how poor the weather has been until this week.

Your only course of action is to burn it with a magnifying glass.

If you release it and it gets away or attscks you before you squash it, then all you'v done is made it angry.

Chances are you've taken it away from it's babies so it'll be full of hell.
