Perhaps because they knew he was doing a good job and was their best chance of getting out of it. Their judgement has been proved correct.
It was never about judgement with the Mags. It was and is all about having a ‘name’ manager. If they had been bottom 10 points adrift it would all be Ashley’s fault and Rafa would still be world class. That is a fact.

That's been proven. When they are doing shite, it's Ashley's fault. When they are doing well it's because of Benitez. It's perfect for him and them.

Not defending them. I simply said they are doing well and they have a good manager.

The thing with NUFC recently in the premier and us is they generally give the top 6 teams a game at home while we always get steamrollered. They have a manager that is brilliant with his defence and is probably in Europe's top 15 managers. If you can't accept that you are pretty much devoid of any character or strength. He is a manager we could never have got. Annoying thing is we were close to being on par with NUFC at one point - still - we have owned them for the last decade just about so that will have to do.

Lord Rafa!

On par at one point?
We were a division above them man.

Was Chris Hughton a 'name' manager. He seemed very popular with them like. Whereas I've no more idea than you how they feel, I suspect they're delighted to have him because he's doing a really good job and has a proven track record as a good manager. If that's what makes him a 'name; manager then you're probably right.

“Fact” and “Proven” are two words that occur in the above post and the the one the post refers to...

No...they are simply views, opinions, subjective assessments and these opinions are much like ar*eholes in as much as we all have them.

I feel that the resurgence since the turn of the year of my team is based on a number of things.
1: Shelvey concentrating on kicking the ball ( remember how he was slagged on here for his “anger management”)
2: Kenedy arriving and giving pace and space on the wing
3: Salmini (remember him, the “crock” from Leicester) making a difference as soon as he started playing
4: Lacelles showing himself to be a good defender and a good captain
5: Every player playing getting back and getting involved when required
6: Matt Ritchie being, quite simply, a good and hard player

All of the above decisions to loan in players, employ Benítez, spend in the championship etc etc were sanctioned by Ashley and as shown today were correct. Equally, it is Benítez who trains the squad and has taken an a best ordinary promotion side and produced a mid table team. I doubt that Ashley will ever be lauded yet he deserves some faint praise for ignoring the winging and and moaning whilst continuing to support my lot economically.

Btw, I am neither fat nor gravy stained but we all have a right to our opinions...

NUFC with the shittest wind ups in history surprise - its because you are thick so to be expected.

Are you saying Benitez is a shite manager? Who would you rather have, Moyes or Benitez?
