To revisit this one, clearly nobody in position and nobody likely to be anytime soon.

The only names I'm hearing though are the usual FTECB 'nice guys' and lapdogs:

Ashley Giles has apparently ruled himself out, which is nice, but I hope to fuck they weren't seriously thinking about him? A bloke who was somewhat responsible for the dullest era of England Cricket in the last decade and who took a Warwickshire side, hotly tipped for the title, to relegation last season.......

Angus Fraser - not yet ruled himself out, but do I even need to start on how underwhelming his appointment would be?

It needs to be someone relatively young, with no obvious ties to any club. Someone like a James Taylor.

KP and James Taylor

Fraser virtually ruled himself out, saying in Cricket Debate last night that he wants to see his Middlesex job through. Beginning to look more Colly's job? Or Tresco? Both well in with Strauss.

I imagine they're both committed to playing this season, Collingwood certainly seems to be.

Given that the plan involves appointing a number of scouts I'd imagine it'll be the end of the season before the system is in place anyway. Be interesting to see what Colly would do if his loyalty was tested by being offered the job!

Colly must be nailed on for a full time coaching role with England once this latest regime ends. If it wasn't for this one day world cup I reckon Bayliss would be gone now. If they have split coaches I could even see Colly getting the gig as head coach of the one day side especially with Strauss making the decisions.

Colly is already being lined up for a job. Probably the England job. He's been talking to strauss about it for a year or so - not that I have inside knowledge, god forbid, just reading what's in the press.

If I was him I'd see out this season and be available for whatever happens at the end of the summer.

To be fair he has been doing more than talking he has been hands on for the last 2 winters. Great for Colly but purely for Durham I would have preferred him to be at the Riverside working with our youngsters . But everyone has to look to the future.

I can't see the FTECB going for anyone but a 'poodle'. Though I'll be pleasantly surprised if Taylor gets the gig!
