I listened to the show and he didn't just come out say he wanted Derby to win. He attempted to sidestep the question but then was cornered on it and pushed for an answer. He then used logic to seperate them but words were put into his mouth. "So what you are saying is you want Sunderland to lose against Derby then" - well he wasn't exactly stating that but the result of what he was saying would mean Sunderland losing. He was saying given the choice of Derby losing the match and Sunderland losing the match, Sunderland was the lesser of 2 evils, not because he loved Derby more but because the points were more valuable to them as Sunderland's relegation battle is a lost cause.

A ludicrous comment from Marco and it'll come back to haunt him. FFS he's getting paid to comment on us. And he's wanting our fans to have a disappointing trip to Derby.

He has zero credibility after saying g that.
 
I know we are fucked.
But we aren't down mathematically and if (I know I know) we won at Derby and on Monday we would be back in it.

And that's what makes Marc's comments unacceptable.
I loved him as a player but this really is not on.

Someone at some point will mention it to him on air.

I loved Marco and the goal at the tip will always give him legendary status.

However, that comment (if true - I havent heard it) is disgusting particularly on a tribal radio programme when you would hope he would fight our corner particularly at the current time.

Can you imagine Howey the plastic jordi doing that? The jordis would go ballistic.

If Marco wants to continue on this gig he needs to make a big apology to us.

He certainly didn't give that apology to us tonight,from what i heard, stand to be corrected etc, blamed the flak he was getting on pride, causing him trouble for him, and then he went on to say well i did go on to play over 200 times for derby etc etc, to which i thought your not really sorry, just upset that you actually said something real on the radio.

Given that it is probably a good little number for him at radio newcastle Im surprised he has got himself in this position. Whatever his views he could have bluffed it out but to be employed as the sunderland expert then implies that he wants us to get beat is not very clever

To say what he did then not give an apology is dissapointing given the mood of SAFC supporters at the moment.

He will always be a legend because I was there that night in May 1990 but if doesnt make a full apology Im afraid his reputation will be a little tarnished in my eyes.

I fully agree. He's also a Nottingham lad and a Forest fan, I believe.
 
He’s a disgrace. Like someone else said ya wouldn’t hear John Anderson saying he wants newcastle to get beat. Just another kick in the teeth to Sunderland. That macar was spot on with his email they read out on tonight’s show.
 
On air he said tonight that he was watching SAFC vs Derby about 10 years ago in a season when both got relegated.

That didn’t happen.

07/08 Derby soiled themselves by getting 11 points and we stayed up under Keane.
