Vaughan on Stoneman

not seen this mentioned but just listening to Tuffers and Vaughan from last week. “Bants” aside it’s quite interesting

Vaughan has been scathing on Stoneman and his practice in Australia, reckons he makes it too easy for himself (and compares his attitude to Malan who he reckons is far more professional)

Stoneman doesn't exactly prove any critics wrong by being stupid after making a start time and time again.

Heard that over the weekend. Also remember Vaughan saying during the 2005 series that each player has to do for what feels right to them (at the time, I think he was defending his decision not to play for LCCC between the 1st and 2nd tests). For a bloke who was supposed to be the closest thing to Brearley as a captain, he become a bit of a judgemental bell end since retiring.

There's a difference between saying each player prepares in a way they feel is best for them and then the allegation that Stoneman makes it easy for himself.

He’s a pundit, that’s his job. I’d rather he had an opinion than just being beige

His opinion here may be wrong, but he knows a bit about test match batting

Just offering an observation. I totally agree with you. FWIW I think he wasted as a pundit, I'd rather see him involved in the Test setup in some capacity.

If it's true, then it amazes me that someone so new to the Test cricket would take the easy road. That said, maybe he doesn't see Test Cricket as the pinnacle

I suspect he's too opinionated for the pricks at the ECB to entertain.

However he will change his opinion next week to suit. He was a good captain and i think he would be a good man to have around as he was seemingly quite innovative. But he isn’t a robot so not a f***ing chance the ecb will look at him

Stoneman has always played a certain way and will never change. An incredibly frustrating player. Gets to 50, and instead of just settling back in, he continues to increase the aggressiveness of his play and gets out

Isn't this what coaches are for? Make sure each player is adequately prepared?

As plenty of journalists who have covered the Ashes said, they never once saw Michael Vaughan at the nets

The bloke is a disgrace, an absolute gobshite, thank god he is not involved in English cricket, it only amazes me that the BBC still hires him when he is so biased as a pundit towards the players in his stable.

He produced at least.

I agree on his bias, but he did say he wouldn’t pick Vince again
