Open Letter To Ellis Short/Petition

I think the only relevant bit is more communication. It doesn't matter what the price is, and Short wants to sell so asking him too is like asking me if I would like to beat the mags and win the lottery the same day.

Until we sort the finances of the club out, it's unlikely any sensible human will buy SAFC. But maybe Short and Bain need to say this. "We know it's painful, and it's difficult to help Coleman build a competitive side, but with current levels of debt and ongoing wage demands from players we are contractually obliged to pay, we simply need to cut costs as far as possible in order to make the football club more attractive to potential buyers. This is why we have been unable to give Coleman or Grayson any significant sums for transfer fees or wages. This policy will continue until debt and ongoing losses are reduced significantly enough for a buyer to be found"

So hang on, u can't be SUNDERLAND til you die and not go ??
My 82 yo Dad doesn't go anymore but always listens out for the result and listens to benno and the other lad.
He's been safc since a bairn and will go to the crem still lovin safc.
Hope that clarifies.

 good one.

All that needs to be discussed at potential takeovers surely? Which goes back to is he making it a viable option? People keep saying hes put price down to 50m, so what more can he do? There's also the 68m owed, so it's closer to 120m potential buyers need. Personally, Short shouldn't be getting anything back imo and needs to take responsibility for the state the clubs in, he won't obviously which is a main part of the reason no one will buy I would guess.

No one thinks signing this petition will make him sell the club for next to nowt, but what it could do is show the fans are on the same page and wave length. Through all this we want the same thing ultimately and still care about whats happening to our club, with some sort of united front. Instead we get bickering, people saying it's pointless and genwrally can't be f***ing bothered to take 2 minutes to sign an on line petition ffs. You're not signing ya life away, it's not costing money or having to go out of your way to do it, it's an on line petition. Get some perspective here lads and lasses.

Someone else who's happy to criticise people for not 'taking 2 minutes to sign an online petition' but is still unable to offer any reasonable argument about what it would achieve.

What do you think about my concerns if Short was to cut his losses and walk away?

Who would cover the debt and the running costs of the club?

It's taken me far longer then 2 minutes to make a logical argument against the open letter on here, so I don't think it's a problem with time or effort I just haven't seen a decent rationale for any of this so far other than people are pissed off.

Convince me it's a good idea and that the potential good outweighs the bad and you have my complete support!

No I mean people can not sit back and be critical of folk signing this petition when they are kicking off people the same folk are critical of them for giving shit for siting back .

I haven't seen anyone doing that tbh.

My only observation is that it's just an on-line petition to repeat that people are pissed off .... a state of which I'm 100% sure Short is well aware of.

Of course it will make people feel pro-active but that's all it will achieve imo.

No one wants Short out more than Short, people wanting him to get rid at any price could regret that very quickly.

I'm not critical of anyone signing the petition, I completely understand their frustration and appreciate they want to vent and stand up for the club, I just disagree that it's the best way forward and nobody's said anything to change my mind so far.

Equally the Op has stuck his neck out and I appreciate that, I'm not nocking him at all, I just don't currently agree.

That's absolutely fair enough too

I'e said in my post what it would achieve mate. Not looking for an argument as such, as you're one of the best posters on here and I normally agree with what you say, but I just can't understand why people who aren't happy won't even do something as simple and easy as this. I'm sure legally he can't just walk away either.

I've gone back and reread the 'letter' from RAWA to properly consider it.

I have to say it's trying much harder to appeal to the supporters than it is Short.

Bit Magish this

Hardly! They do it (protest) in the typical manner befitting neanderthal's. They make cardboard coffins. They punch horses. They write placard's that span the length and breadth of the stadium. They make crudely written signs at home that sometimes don't even make sense or have good spelling. They do not use social media to reach and connect to a wider audience and appeal to them to sign a petition with a well constructed letter that speaks with a calm and sensible tone.

Seems strange to read about 'Sunderland till I die' and 'thousands leaving' in the same piece.

Thought the same thing.

Short wants out

He had TWO options to sell last summer (the Germans and Fulwell73) and he didn't take either.

Haway man

If Fulwell73 had the club at heart and £200 million they should be posting their intent to buy this morning .... they won't.

You know nothing about the 'Germans' .... it could be a bunch of Mag wums for all you know.

If it does then who will pick up the bill when he leaves?

We presumably still owe a decent lump of money to external debtors and if Short was to leave and take his money with him then it's likely that they would call in the administrators to try and make sure they get their money back.

Short was also putting in a good lump of money to cover the bills every month at the last accounts, assuming he still is then how would we keep the lights on if he stopped?

It's nice to have a monster to channel your anger at but it's really over simplifying things to think all of our problems can be placed at the feet of one man. That might not be a popular opinion around here but I think it's true.

That being said Short has seemingly lost interest and isn't going to continue to back us like he was so it seems the only way forward is to find new investors as quickly as possible. Who knows how or where from, the whole club is hardly seen in a great light at the minute.

Where are all the ex SAFC players/managers who have love for the club can they not do something like Quinny did to try and encourage someone to invest?

We're crying out for people with influence to act as ambassadors of the club and try and push our cause.
There's no room for rational thought process on here mate. Short should just give the club away for a song to the first person who can raise a few quid.

I'm sorry like, but that is a parcel of shite. Yes the funeral thing they did was cringey as fuck but to suggest that we're doing it in a more "classy" way or whatever it is you're suggesting is utter nonsense. We're both one and the same - pissed off at careless owners, and we've both started movements to make change. Let's not make this a pissing contest to see who is better at showing their discontent. It's not always u v them. People like you just emphasise a small time mentality.

I think you are wrong there mate, I think a lot of people's motives for signing it are to get him to lower his price. If he decides to do that, who knows what type of owners we could get in, and even though most people think it isn't possible, they could be much worse than Short.
