Open Letter To Ellis Short/Petition

It asks for him to find a buyer. Does anyone really think he isn’t trying, he’s absolutely desperate to sell ffs

It's at least something though mate. Might aswell put our club on the market for £1 with the debt, wage bills , future payments to players and issues we have going on. Maybe a larger anti short demonstration might confirm to him that he absolutely has no future here.

If it does then who will pick up the bill when he leaves?

We presumably still owe a decent lump of money to external debtors and if Short was to leave and take his money with him then it's likely that they would call in the administrators to try and make sure they get their money back.

Short was also putting in a good lump of money to cover the bills every month at the last accounts, assuming he still is then how would we keep the lights on if he stopped?

It's nice to have a monster to channel your anger at but it's really over simplifying things to think all of our problems can be placed at the feet of one man. That might not be a popular opinion around here but I think it's true.

That being said Short has seemingly lost interest and isn't going to continue to back us like he was so it seems the only way forward is to find new investors as quickly as possible. Who knows how or where from, the whole club is hardly seen in a great light at the minute.

Where are all the ex SAFC players/managers who have love for the club can they not do something like Quinny did to try and encourage someone to invest?

We're crying out for people with influence to act as ambassadors of the club and try and push our cause.

you said you don't see people saying it. You never mentioned a majority. I'm aware that it's not a majority but one idiot mentioning the mags as a reason to avoid defending our club is one idiot too many.

these idiots exist.

I was responding to a post saying 'Because most of them are afraid of looking like mags. '

Short does not want to be here....How many times!!!

It appears to be important that supporters from other clubs know we're upset at being bottom of the Championship.

Without this petition they might never know.

And that suitable bid maybe lower than he initially wanted if he is getting forced out of the door. Price has already sank to 50m. Will go lower too.
And if no one wants to buy at a lower price things are still the same.

1 pound is too much given the debt.

It's not just about finding a buyer, its about finding someone daft enough to take on the debt.

No wonder a buyer can't be found and no petition will change that.

It will expedite nothing if a suitable bid for the Club isn't received.

It will make people feel better and that's really the point.

People feel as if they're 'doing something' instead of 'just sitting back' which is quaint .... I'll guarantee they were sitting back as they typed in their name.

Before long it'll be the petition that forced Short into dropping the price to £50m..

Disagree. I do think the media now picking up on this may make short consider new proposals he would otherwise turn down .

As I said, as people are entitled to go and applaud the players regardless of the performance, others are equally allowed to show their displeasure by doing this. People can not have it both ways. It's a way to vent. It's absolutely fine. I find it genuine too.

He won't give a fuck.

He's in America.

It won't even get on his radar.

All that needs to be discussed at potential takeovers surely? Which goes back to is he making it a viable option? People keep saying hes put price down to 50m, so what more can he do? There's also the 68m owed, so it's closer to 120m potential buyers need. Personally, Short shouldn't be getting anything back imo and needs to take responsibility for the state the clubs in, he won't obviously which is a main part of the reason no one will buy I would guess.

No one thinks signing this petition will make him sell the club for next to nowt, but what it could do is show the fans are on the same page and wave length. Through all this we want the same thing ultimately and still care about whats happening to our club, with some sort of united front. Instead we get bickering, people saying it's pointless and genwrally can't be f***ing bothered to take 2 minutes to sign an on line petition ffs. You're not signing ya life away, it's not costing money or having to go out of your way to do it, it's an on line petition. Get some perspective here lads and lasses.

You can though .... people aren't simply on one side of a wall or another, it's not Berlin.

I'm seriously pissed off but support whatever's on the pitch.

It's Short I'm angry with, not the club ... now they are two totally different things.

Nice post fella

To paraphrase, "loads of fans have given up, we're Sunderland 'til we die."

It should have been proofread and vetted a bit first to be taken seriously.

So hang on, u can't be SUNDERLAND til you die and not go ??
My 82 yo Dad doesn't go anymore but always listens out for the result and listens to benno and the other lad.
He's been safc since a bairn and will go to the crem still lovin safc.
Hope that clarifies.
