Imagine being offended by friends man

i think its about 3 people in the whole world. not worthy of an article in the Indi surely.

fucks sake three or four of your mates could complain about peppa pig encouraging animal cruelty or some shit, 4 separate tweets and there would be an article headlined 'peppa pig offensive to parents', 'outrage over childrens program' and 'the internet has decided peppa pig should be banned'

then you would have hundreds or thousands of people sharing the article, stating how stupid people are for being offended by it, and how its gone 'to far' and that you cant say or do anything anymore, and start getting angry at no one in particular. then some mad fucker vegans would pile in stating that kids should be brought up vegetarian then feminists and trump would be brought into and round and round we go.

can people not just ignore this shit?

Can't really comment as I watched about 10 a long time ago
The yanks have always wrapped touchy subjects up in comedy
Soap was class ,is it the fact people don't think these things were meant to be in there ?

On the subject of Friends, for anyone who hasn't seen it, Coupling is great. 90's UK sitcom which was known as the 'British Friends.'

This. I very much doubt millenials are more easily offended than previous generations. They just have a platform in social media to share views that can be picked up by a National newspaper.

30 years ago this sort of thing would have been said in a pub by 1 or 2 people and that was that. Now every thought is shared across the country and unfortunately it makes people think an entire generation are f***ing mental.

I bought my step daughter a box set of all of the episodes so she could watch it upstairs :)
She got a Google mini for her room at Xmas then Netflix added friends. I don't think it's been on that long yet she's season 7, episode 14 or summit. Total addiction. But it's better than the Instagram eyeliner blogs it succeeds!

It's fun too as I can pause it from my phone. Pause, "homework". Pause, "Bath" know what I mean? For all those wierd little things in-between episodes called Life!

Funnily enough, I met a woman in real life recently who said she couldn't watch Friends because it was full of white people and they made transphobic jokes about Chandler's dad (haven't read the article but I'm assuming it makes similar points). I didn't think people like that actually existed outside Twitter and Salon articles but there you go.

I would of have laughed in her face and told her to give her head a shake

I’ve seen that nanny episode like. To me, Ross comes across as the ridiculous one who the writers are poking fun at for being backward in his thinking.

Obviously it’s nowhere near as sophisticated as Gervais portrayal as Brent or parts of the Office , but there are similar kinds of scene throughout. If anyone regards the Office as a homophobic, sexist etc then they completely miss the point. I think there might be a bit of that type of misinterpretation here as well.

That's it for me. The writers weren't being sexist or homophobic, some of the characters were. When those characters do act in those ways, generally the others frown upon them for it or if nobody else is around it's still clear that the character is the comic relief of the situation for acting like that. It's in no way glorifying the behaviour, it's the exact opposite - saying "look how ridiculous it is to think and act this way".

+1

I love Coupling. I've got all 4 seasons on DVD. Class show.
