Just looked at the League table

Think he will keep us up, but those performances against Sheffield Utd and Barnsley was as bad as anything under Grayson.

Natural when turning around a shitshow. Group of humans not a light switch. Green shoots are there, we’re picking up points we weren’t before, and Coleman isn’t a bullshitter.

Exactly mate, yet the owner says he wants to finish around 7th in the premier

He said the clubs rightful position is there and it should be - bar the big 6 we have the natural resources of every club in the country.

Still think we'll finish mid table

That would take something pretty extraordinary. Looking at last years table, we’d need 53/54 points which equates to 30 more from 20 games or 1.5 a game to likely stay up, never mind anything more ambitious. Over the last year we average about 0.7 per game (and doing no better despite the inferior opposition this season compared to last). So even just to survive we need to suddenly become twice as good as our current form and that over the last year. Unlikely at best.

I don’t think it will be 50 points plus this year mind. We won’t get 40 so it’s irrelevant anyway.

I had a sharp intake of breath, and was immediately taken over by a feeling of impending doom about my club.
I have never felt this low in over 40 years of supporting Sunderland.
Before you give me comments about McMenemy years etc, even then, there was something there, not a lot but I didn’t feel like this!
I am deeply deeply worried like never before. I just can’t see a way out of this mess, from the top to the bottom of the club.
Is there a way back?
After watching them on New Year's Day the answer is a resounding NO.

Stupid going on about points needed when if we'd beat Barnsley we'd feel almost safe!
It's the same old shit - we need to win two games on the bounce asap - if that happens we'll look ok

the funny thing is that summer we got whitehead Lawrence nosworthy etc. lower league players with bit of heart.. reinvigorated the club. transfer policy all wrong this summer as it normally is, buying players on their way down rather than way up

Certainly don't agree we would feel almost safe whereas if we don't get a decent return from Cardiff, Hull and Birmingham we will almost be down. 4 wins in 26 with 20 to play. Even if we win 6 and draw 6 (I don't think we are capable of that) takes us to 46 points. Not enough.

Now then, that is really scary and going off recent performances is actually very probable....i hope that CC can get a few players in that can ACTUALLY make a difference week in week out, our normal procedure is get players in that are either:
A) Unfit and need to me to ‘bed in’
B) Get players in who get injured straight away.
Reality will kick in big style if no signings are made or the results turn yet again against us in the next 3-4 weeks.

Agreed, however we hope this every week or after every win (rare i know) and it simply never happens.

We are only one win from being out of the relegation zone but 1 win doesnt cut it. We need to go on a run where we win 4 or 5 in 9 or something like that and thats as far away in this division as it ever was in the PL.
