How long can Rafa last?

Rafa got promoted easily enough and surely even Sunderland fans can now appreciate the championship is not the doddle they all thought it was last season, problem is he is now essentially stuck with a championship team as he was only allowed to spend about 30 million in the summer which is peanuts these days, so he had to go out and buy bang average players like Joselu,Manquillo etc. If he somehow does keep this team up then he has done a good job.

Easily enough? Aye, for the sake of a good story let’s not pretend Brighton give up the title. Rafa spent £50m to get promoted and Grayson got £1.25m. Shut the fuck up.

Newcastle spent more days at the top of the league than anybody else, maybe Newcastle almost gave it up and then grabbed it back at the end by playing for 46 games like professionals instead going on the drink once promotion was assured.

I think he's a very good manager, and way better than we could ever have expected to get, certainly if he was to leave we'd be back on the cycle of the likes Souness, Roeder, Pardew, McClaren, Allardyce, Kinnear.
He's not infallible by any means. But he's better than we would be likely to get again for a very long time. His previous clubs have been Real Madrid, Napoli, Chelsea, Inter,Liverpool, Valencia. Whether or not he's been lucky, a success or failure at those clubs, he's obviously got something about him to keep getting jobs at top European clubs. For him to be at a mainly bottom half premier league time like Newcastle feels like a lottery win compared to what we've had or what we could expect. I can understand the hysteria that comes with him being here, but perspective is needed from some of our fans. He's not gonna win the league here, probably won't win a cup, but he can do pretty well.

The same fans who hold him up as a world class manager who can walk on water are the same ones who cry out for Mitrovic and moan about one up front or about being too defensive, completely contradicting their idolizing of Rafa. In Rafa we trust, but question his tactics and moan about the players selected.
The same divvies who have major meltdowns on Twitter because we don't thrash the likes of Bournemouth at home.
I’m not so sure he will turn out any better than the managers you mention, I do agree with the managerial Merry go round. I do wonder if part of the adulation is because he managed the clubs you mention.
I completely agree about the contradictions, it seems people are frightened to offer even constructive criticism.

Depends what happens in January , if Ashley stays and we don’t get any funds then relegation beckons and I won’t blame Benitez for that, look at the state of that team it’s truly horrific and nobody can tell me it’s anything like the team Benítez would have put together, had he not been forced to scrape the barrel at the bottom of the market.

So you're saying without a massive amount of money to spend he's just another ordinary bang average manager, is that correct?

So, absolutely no blame whatsoever for Benitez if he relegates that team ...... okey dokey.

World class manager not getting enough cash to be world class. So who did put that truly horrific team together then? Incredible

They never mentioned scraping the barrel when they were winning games, funny that.

They're fuckin unreal man, the love they have for fat spice is cringeworthy.

It’s the most incredible post I’ve ever read re supporting Benitez. Basically he needs unlimited money so he can be successful. Anything other than that and he can’t be blamed

Not Rafa’s fault at all then

The fall guy takes all the shite when it goes wrong, win a couple of games and the messiah takes all the plaudits, it's truly laughable.

I wonder if it’ll still be a truly horrific team he was forced to put together if they finish 10th.
Seriously, can’t begin to describe that post in full detail
