If Short is serious about his commitment to the club and wants to see us back in the Premier League in the near future then this is his man. I have a funny feel it is but Bain is hoping to get one of his buddies in for the job.

My only question is about his commitment to youth development - purely due to a lack of knowledge. It’s gonna be something that is key for the next fella so we can’t afford someone who refuses to think about youth.

Gibson, Friend and Clayton off the top of my head all came through under him iirc?

He's the obvious candidate, did a brilliant job at Boro after walking into a similar situation. The fact that he stands out yet we don't seem close to appointing him, or anyone, a week after Grayson is gone tells me he's not interested. If he's not, the only other obvious one that's not totally shit but fits the criteria (out of work and experienced) is Paul Lambert.

Considering his mentor I had the same concerns. I asked a Boro fan on here about it and he said he was good for giving youth a chance.

Im thinking that people dont buy into bain- short is ruthless and it makes no sense why he hasnt got rid of bain- short fire bain please

Right. Well on board, then, after those replies. He’s a good coach, he generally plays 4-3-3, he gets his teams to be solid, he’s not a thicky and he’s not averse to developing players. You’d imagine he’d secure a modest January budget too given our position and him being in demand. I’d be interested in Hurst or someone of that ilk but Karanka seems like an excellent fit. Plenty of time to build momentum for a PL promotion push in 2019.
