Grayson: Not worried about being in relegation zone

Or hes realised after a few months like every man and his dog (mackems) aside that the club is well and truly fucked without a pot to piss in and in a couple of years survival in the championship will become the new norm and seen as a successful season.

If he didn't already know this, merely by his appointment then he's a bigger fuckwit than I thought

£37m next season and £17m the one after. Those payments, by the way, are part of the security for the SBC loan. I wouldn't be at all surprised to find that that the club are under extreme pressure to ensure that the loan is reduced so that it's always less then the future payments due.

Or reduce costs to normal Championship levels.

how do you know all this? Who are you?

I'm gobsmacked that he's still our manager.

There's no reason we shouldn't be. It's a poor division but he hasn't got a clue regarding his best line-up or formation. There's no reason we shouldn't be competing in the top half, other than our out of his depth manager.

Agreed. You've also got to question our staff, why aren't people challenging his selections? Why is he persistently selecting Cattermole and Ndong? How many fuckin defensive players does he want on the field? Even with so many defensive minded players, we still can't keep a clean sheet.

Ten years in the premier, ten years of averaging over 40000, ten years of sky, bt, setanta and oversea rights money

Ten years which includes a consortium of millionaires, topped off by a billionaire.

Ten years of merchandise sales which have brought in more money than has been in the club all time.

A wembley appearance

Let's say all that comes to £500 million?

Have we really spent over £650 million on transfer fees and wages?

Someone has had fingers in the till

“The position will only become a worry when you’re still in it and it’s mathematically impossible to catch the teams above you,” said Grayson, who has guided his side to just one league victory from his 12 games in charge.

If he is actually saying things like that then it appears he has had enough and is hoping that he will get the boot soon.

Funny how our players went to the top to complain when they were asked to work hard for a living by the then manager. Now they are on easy street picking up a fat wage, they aren't rushing to Bain to say that this fucker hasn't got a clue

Complete and utter buffoon! #graysonout

Firstly Short needs to stop handing out 3 year contracts to any Manager and certainly not 4 year contracts (Steele) to players. That is why we have the financial problems that we have now. I don't buy into this "People don't want to come her". SG like others before him knew that if they got it right at Sunderland they could achieve far more than they could at clubs like Preston.
See handing someone a 1 year contract wouldn't give the position any credibility. If the players don't respect the manager's position (not even the person, just the position of manager), then how can you expect them to respect and listen to the difficult decisions they make?

Allardyce may not have been everybody's cup of tetleys but he got the job done. I think you're probably right about the culture but I'm sure new ownership and a firm hand will sort out the slackers. They can't all be swinging the lead; although I sometimes wonder ...
Not sure there's any evidence whatsoever to suggest that a new owner would be any better than what we have now.

In before, "can't do any worse" and "anyone but Short".

I'm a retired accountant with a lot of business experience - I'm simply making reasoned extrapolations from publically available sources based on observations on how lenders behave.

Taken from the accounts - staff costs 2007-16 £577.2m, cash outflows relating to transfers £309.9m (with another £31m still owing at 31/7/16. It's all absolutely kosher. By the way, merchandise sales are about £4m per season. Peanuts.

I'd be worried about zero clean sheets, no wins in 10, no home wins in 10 months, players who don't give a shit, an owner who'd sell the tea lady if he thought he'd make a profit, the fact the ground is half empty, most fans appear to be calling for your head.

I've heard a rumour that Everton are in for Gladys Dribblethwaite.

It's Hi De Si where I'm looking from. Few sickies thrown recently.

Or I will worry when relegation is confirmed and not before.
Possibly the most inane statement I have ever seen from any football manager.

He probably thinks he's doing a decent job. His comment about conceding a goal from a set-piece "not being like us" when, I think it's the third game in a row we have shows how removed from reality he is.

For me Short is one of a long list of football club owners beguiled by the huge profile and romance of the game whilst knowing little about it. With the amounts of cash he provided we could and should have done better. It's no good apportioning blame, there's too many to mention, but Short must inevitably carry the can for abject failure, along with the managers and executives he hired. His heart and focus aren't with the club so best he goes asap.

Short is an arsehole. He's been knee-jerking and jumping about without any coherent, properly funded plan for the development of this club more or less from the day he got here. He's instigated and tolerated management incompetency on an unbelievable scale. Given that he has been the only person with the power to make a difference, the bloke is entirely responsible for our situation and will go down in history as such. His track record doesn't give any confidence that he will conduct any prospective sale with the best interests of the club at heart. I'm as angry and as depressed as I've ever been and I've been coming since 1961.
