I'm pretty much as happy clapper as they come and think Grayson should be given time (although at this stage I don't really care if he stays or goes we're a shambles on and off the pitch) because Short is the problem. But I really don't see any positives from conceding 5 goals and only scoring 2. Especially when Ipswich fans thought we would tear them apart anyway given how attacking their team was.

I still think we'll be alright eventually though.

Well here goes. People who know me well will realise I never hide win lose or draw.
Watched the full match tonight and have to say that there was actually a big improvement in our play, defence apart.
We had 14 shots at goal and 6 of them were on target.
The defence is catastrophic .
I still believe we will be ok, I have told many that it will get worse before it gets better.
We now know we can attack which is massive. I believe we are finally at the bottom of the curve and we will start getting positive results

I think there are some good points here. From the few seconds I have managed to see of the game through various nefarious means, there is definitely a bit more direction and drive. At the end of the day, losing heavily is 3 points not won, and possibly another point lost over the season in terms of goal difference. I've made the point on this forum many times that results can be superficial, and do necessarily reflect performances or how things will pan out over the season. However, our defence just looks terrible, and what we are indanger of doing is losing the momentum before it starts because we have no chance of hanging on to a lead if we happen to get it. If committing to attacking opens us up this much, we are not going to win matches.

I really think we need to start bring in the under 23s. They must surely be more organised and competent and ethusiastic than what we have out there.

Haha I think you mean Charles Manson. Bronson was a spaghetti western actor. Thanks for cheering me up.

I think he means Charles Bronson, born Michael Peterson and now known as Charles Salvador (after Dali), the extremely violent prisoner currently an inmate at Wakefield prison.

I'm with you on that

There is absolutely fuck all, zero, nada, zip to be positive about
There is, Williams headache has cleared up and wont happen again till his red flag is flying again next month. So we at least can plan for him not being available.
Watmore is almost ready and McNair is improving.
It's all positive man

Well that’s not cheered me up at all then.

The problem is to become more solid defensively usually means something gives from an attacking perspective. You will never keep the openness in attack whilst making sure the defence give nowt away. I thought we'd be a hard working team, closing opposition down, making the off chance drawing games 0-0, pinching the odd win. Instead we've conceded sloppy goals and always having to get back into games, we therefore open the game up for both teams.

I really hope things start going for Grayson. A likable bloke who wants to do well but some of his decisions scream 'panic'! Maybe he's just hoping to stumble across a winning setup?!

Crazy how it's come to this!

As mentioned in the original post normally around two or three shots on goal. Today was the most we have had in one game.
If you take the stats in isolation it appeared to be a pretty even game. Shots, corners, attacks and dangerous attacks were all similar. However, what that fails to show is anything meaningful we contributed to that game was when it was dead and buried. We started shite, continued to get worse and had lost by half time in reality. As others have already said it could have been worse.
