They spent an absolute fortune on a good Championship side and now don't have the funds to make the side an average premier league side.

The daft bastads

UNDER RAFAS GUIDANCE

They didn't listen, but just about everyone on here got that piece of hindsight right. They spent a fortune on Championship players (on god knows what level of wages) and now they're back in the prem realizing that they're not good enough and they can't shift them. It was always going to come back and bite them on the arse

Benitez reckons something definitely is.

Ego of gaffer- simple as that- you dont hear other managers complaining having had 30 to 40 million to spend- but he is as it protects his reputation if it goes badly- but protecting himself makes the owner and fans and team suffer- same as moyes- he was too good for safc- nothing his fault and his ego relegated us- u dont hear this at watford or stoke and watch them go

Mike Ashley has got the measure of him totally but it's already becoming a public war of words which won't be good for the club and signing players.

The general mood at the club seems bad as well.

If they are not careful they could seriously arse it up and end up with window closed, a manager in a right flap and players feeling like manager thinks they are crap and no decent new signings as potential new players have been put off after seeing bad results and hearing on grapevine that it's got bad vibes.

Long may it continue.

Has Ashley ever spent big I cant remember?

There was a few who played last night that have been told they can go. It hasn't been said officially, or exactly who they are, but a few of the North East press were saying it last nigh. Dangerous game to play because if they end up not moving once the window closes....

Yes.
Very dangerous, can't wait until Mike sells them on deadline day
