At least the Premier League got its giant back.
He spent over £200m at Liverpool and never looked like winning the league.I like the way everyone ignores anything he has done between leaving Liverpool and ending up at Newcastle.
Absolutely nobody questions how he went from managing the likes of Inter, Napoli and Real Madrid to a Premier League Relegation struggler.
Actually, most just seem to accept that he's been a success and it's absolute madness.
He took over Treble winners Inter and got sacked in months.
At Chelsea he took over them in 3rd place and 4 points off the title and ended up in 3rd place and 14 points off the title.
At Napoli he spent an absolute fortune and took a team that finished 2nd to 3rd and then 4th (outside CL place). He took a vibrant team and made them absolutely dire to watch.
Real Madrid he was hilariously out of his depth.
However he took advantage of a piss easy Europa League draw with Chelsea and won the Copa Italia with Napoli so he's the f***ing messiah.
Exactly, pray for Rafa (cos he's shite)Mags should surely be happy though -isn't fourth bottom the highest he's got them?

From the hilarious nufc.com - sorry if SEB
A mistake from Jonjo Shelvey's replacement, Mikel Merino, gifted Aaron Mooy the chance to curl the winner in the 50th minute and all of our summer signings struggled, although Joselu did OK on his debut after replacing the ineffective Dwight Gayle.
He's spent nearly 100 at the mags and looks like he can't even competeHe spent over £200m at Liverpool and never looked like winning the league.

So, if last year's £50m spent on players wasn't good enough, nor are any of this year's, why would Ashley give the waiter anymore money to fritter away?
Didn't realise Rafa has already spent £42m this summer, to go alongside the £57m last summer![]()
Money doesn't go far these days does it?

It's £35m and they've also recouped £10m of that, but even that's nothing if you want to do anything at all in that league bar scraping 17th when you consider teams who finished in the bottom half last season such as Palace are spending (£28m), Leicester (£25m), West Ham (£24m) and Bournemouth (£20m) on literally one player. That's what they needed, 3 really good players, even if it costs 60-70m, not 35m on 6 players including Joselu, Atsu and Manquillo just to further fill out the squad.
It was actually £62m last season. In the Championship
£104m laid out so far. It's more the fact no one seems to be reporting how much cash he's been given. You'd think he'd been handed a fiver the way the media and Rafa is going on
You got him
Money doesn't go far these days does it?
It really doesn't!
Huddersfield looked better than Newcastle today/yesterday and when you look at the numbers you can see how good of a job David Wagner has done there!
Last season Huddersfield spent a reported £4.01M* and won promotion via the play offs after finishing 5th on 81 points.
Newcastle spent £57.38M*, won the Championship with 94 points and 13 points clear of Huddersfield.
This summer (so far) Huddersfield have spent £38.79M* and Newcastle have spent £38.07M*.
Despite only spending £720K* more than Newcastle this summer (although Newcastle spent £53.37M* more last summer) Huddersfield have bridged the huge gap with Newcastle from last season and judging by the game earlier they look like a better more balanced side.
Wagner has genuinely done a great job.
Still early days mind but at this point in time Rafa could learn a lot from his less experienced "colleague"!
*According to the website Transfermarkt
I agree. Wagner is class. I like his little beard.
