Benitez Future In Doubt Over Failure to Secure Key Signings

...

The first person said "It seems he is using them to just stay close to his family." clearly implying that is the only reason, hence the use of the word "just" and by saying "using them".

I noted it was a new one to suggest the only reason Benitez is at Newcastle is to be close to his family. The usual themes on here are "no other options", "huge salary" and so on.

I think you've just misunderstood my post.
This is a new one with a smiley face was your post. Deny it all you want but implicit in that was the suggestion it was the only reason and that you'd not seen it mentioned.
I suggested it wasn't it's your pedantry and your determination to try and look clever again letting you down.

He'll only leave of his own volition if Ashley reneges on what was agreed last (and again, this) summer.

The main concern is Ashley reverting to type and reigning in the 'ambition' of the club.

If the latter happens, the former will follow. It's all in Ashley's hands.
What was agreed out of curiosity?

He had assurances that he could have every last penny generated from the following
  • Promotion
  • Player Sales
  • Any other means
Serious question Sima, do you think it is a case of who blinks first with them and see who backs down first ?

Slightly ambiguous but it's fair to assume it would amount to a bit more than been spent so far. Still think he'll be finding it difficult to get players to come to this neck of woods. Gone are days of Newcastle being able to blow clubs out water with wages.

Of course, we can no longer trade on whatever 'prestige' we have at the mid-end of the 90s and the field has been levelled where now location is key.

It is massively ambiguous but that is to give Ashley an 'out' and not give what level of funding we have away to prospective sellers.

Definitely, Benitez has always used the media politically with club owners. It's something Ashley isn't used to and with his history I know the most likely outcome.

Seems to me Ashley will not like the fact Benitez has the vast majority of supporters behind him. It will be interesting to see how it all pans out

With respect sima I think it was more money than 'prestige' you's traded on in that period, that money brought you's relative success which naturally gave you's a bit of a leg up but without the big bucks I dong think it would've made too much difference. It's only the really big clubs that can possibly live on reputation. When someone like Tammy Abraham turns you's down for Swansea and kaboul leaves us for Watford it gives an indication about where our clubs stand in pecking order.

The implication was that being close to family was the only reason Benitez is at Newcastle. I said that claiming that was a new one.

Everything else is up in your head.

Possibly but alongside finishing 3rd, 6th then 2nd established us as one of the more attractive clubs in the division whereas now we're merely a beige one of the 13 that are relatively all swimming in the same amount of money. When that is the case location takes over massively.

You must be gutted.

Glass eye to sleep.
