He will be coming in to be an experienced striker, who Grayson knows and happens to be cheap. If he does start 20+ games then there is a good chance he has warranted those starts. I can't believe someone who scored 24 goals in a league below ours is being completely written off, he's not an inspiring signing but if we had stayed up and then signed Chris Wood, (a striker who scored 27 goals in a league below ours and had never been prolific before then) I doubt there would be as much complaining.

Spot on. Good signing imo, worth a chance for £1m. I really can't understand where people are coming from.

How much did Stephen Elliott cost us? Daryl Murphy? Lawrence? Whitehead? They all did a job for us in the championship.

It's 900k what's the worst that could happen?

I can only think that people are concerned that this may be the pinacle of our ambition this summer. If this is the case, I can totally relate to that, unless we're confident that Lens, Khazri and Kone are staying. If those three stay, I think we'll go straight back up.

Vaughan won't be our only striker this summer - i'm certain of that. You need different types of attacking players. Up front you need a poacher/goalscorer type player, a big strong physical target man type player, someone with experience that's a bit clever etc.

Looked good but, then again, so did fuckin Nacho Scocco when I watched the **** on YouTube. In reality, he looked like he'd just been lebotomised and thrust onto the pitch! I'm optimistic about Vaughan tho. Don't think he'll be a starter like. More a squad player. HTL

In a nutshell really. I don't believe we'll be making more than a couple of striker signings given the mood and ambition coming from the club over the last year or so. Hence if an experienced striker is coming in for money, then I think he's coming in as a first choice. If we were keeping those Id be much less bothered as I think if fit and motivated they'd rip it apart, but again what's come from the club and how it's been I think we'll do everything possible to remove the higher earners (even after possible 40% reductions) from the wage bill.
