I enjoyed those desperate times with Marco, Gates and briefly Whitehurst. Can't for the life of me see the comparison with Worthington though.

I can't believe someone who scored 24 goals in a league below ours is being completely written off, he's not an inspiring signing but if we had stayed up and then signed Chris Wood, (a striker who scored 27 goals in a league below ours and had never been prolific before then) I doubt there would be as much complaining.

He had scored semi regularly and bagged 20 a few seasons earlier too. I get the point but both younger and has a better record.

Still don't buy it. Let's see how much we spend on players then. If we're totally skint then it's got to be sweet FA. I appreciate SG would not get any Pickford cash as that's a given. Yes we'll still be in debt and I didn't say we'd clear that debt - just that we have money to spend.

You dont buy it? It's there in front of you man. We have to re-invest a small amount to get a team out so we might spend somewhere approaching five to ten million as we have money floating around in and out, but we're banking on getting rid of more high earners and that will drag on till the end of the window so we're trying to get deals done like the loans and Vaughan. The reality is we'll still be losing money at the moment.

There is no comparison tbf but Whitehurst always boosted my spirits during bleak times with his heart and effort. Worthington although past his best was pure class. They both got my juices flowing albeit for different reasons.
