James Vaughan

Chris Woods record at WBA where he was in and out first season was poor but he was about 17/18.

Including that and ignoring his time in League One (8 goals in 29 games) which is around the rate Vaughan scored at in the Championship on average, he had a host of loans scoring 9 in 23, 3 in 19, 11 in 19, 9 in 20, 4 in 26, 13 in 36 and then 27 in 44 (league games at Championship level only).

To Vaughan's 41 goals in 141 games in the Championship, Wood has 220 Championship games and 77 goals. Vaughan is also about three years four months older.

Seriously what on earth are you on about?

Why would you also ask about Woods record on signing for Leeds in 2015 when he was 23 going on 24 and had mainly had a load of loans, ignoring that even then he was scoring a similar rate to Vaughan usually playing less games?

Mate wood will cost like 15 million

Vaughan will cost a mill

What do you expect

I never even brought up Wood. The point is one looks class at that level, one doesn't hence the respective fees.

I don't expect James Vaughan, despite our financial problems, to be leading the line as a regular next season. Do you?

Why not?

I'd be looking at players who score 25 goals in the league below for sure

Nearly all strikers who have been a success in the championship have scored goals at lower levels

At the time Woods signed his record was poor. He had only scored over ten goals once and that was when he was 19. He then didnt develop and had poor seasons by your book.

Then his firsr season at leeds he only got 13 which is average again your words not mine. He then got 27 goals last season nothing from when leeds signed him suggested he would do this.

Vaughan is only 3 years older hes hardly a lot more senior Woods is 26 in december. Theres no excuse why Vaughan can hit his highest tally next season.

You do realise there was a season in 11/12 where Woods was out on loan and then returned and scored 20 goals overall?

Of course he's more senior - Vaughan is 29 tomorrow, Woods is 26 in December. There's almost three and a half years between them.

Woods scored 13 in 36 games at Leeds in his first season, which is about his third best tally. Vaughan's best ever was 14 in 34 which is marginally better.

By the way - you're the one bringing Woods into it. The point with Woods he's actually doing it regularly in the Championship and has got into double figures at that level in five out of his last six seasons at that level. Woods has actually hit over 20 goals at that level twice, hit 13 once, hit 12 once and has hit the type of lesser amounts Vaughan regularly hits. Wood looks a class act at the moment.

Yes.
No goals at Ipswich when on loan in 2015.
1 in 2 for Leeds since then.
Big strikers often develop later in their careers too.

Played loads as a sub too. 81 games as sub from 178 league games.

Why not?

Because given his record and his injury record it would be foolish.

Generally haven't spent much of their career at that level failing to be a success, have one season lower, come back up and be a success though.

Talk about changing the goalposts you said Vaughan was bang average with 14 goals at that level.

When Leeds signed Woods he had scored 5 league goals in 2 seasons. He wasnt the hot prospect you are dying to describe he was a gamble much like Vaughan will be.

I have brought Woods into it as you would be moaning about us signing him if this was A Leeds forum circa 2015

Drogba Di Natale Ferdinand Wright plenty of strikers develop late.

He is 29 on Thursday and has scored 7 in his last 45 appearances in the championship. But yes he'll probably be cheap'ish.

Don't they say strikers usually enjoy their peak years between 28 to 32

But aye, all joking aside look £900,000 or whatever is a low risk signing.

He's coming back from scoring 24 goals last season, so worth the punt imo.

They don't drop down to League 1 to do it though!!
