as of now, i am expecting Maja to be one of the first names on the team sheet so the likes of vaughan are probably about as high as we will aim...no disrespect to the lad and the usual 'youtube' special shows him full of confidence and scoring some damn good goals but anyone expecting a lot of money to be released for a 'known' striker needs to really take a long hard look at the club, it is screwed.

That's the level we are at the minute. We've just got to hope whoever we get does the business.
Mind, getting Khazri to stay could be our best bit of business, if we can persuade him.

The club have done remarkably well to reduce fan expectations to an almost all time low.
This is true. Short is getting off very lightly FFS. People are still arguing about Moyes on here when it's clear we have a far bigger problem still at the club who continues to try to cheapskate our way to a decent football side while remaining determinedly focused on getting his cash back.

If we've got a budget of 10 million I'd see no reason why we couldn't get hugill for 3/4 million. Then sign a free, Campbell or sanogo. Neither would set the world alight but they'll cost next to nothing. Watkins from Exeter would be tops 1.5 million, maybe throw so add ons in to bump up the potetinal end figure.

We'd then have Hugill, watmore, Campbell/sanogo and Watkins as forwards. Then there's maja and asoro to back them up.

Even if we didn't have that sort of money to spend on hugill, get one of the frees and a younger forward like Watkins then look at loans from the prem.

I would like us to go for Watkins as well but I am sure I read that Exeter value him at between £3-4m so that may put him beyond us due to our finances. (How sad is that)

Looks like Brentford might get him:

We need 4 strikers. Gradel is not one, he is a winger. Watmore is not one, he is a winger.

Target men - Murphy? Hugill?
Pacey forwards - Campbell? Vaughan?

I dont mind signing 3 of the above as long as we get one stand out player as well.

Idealy for me we would go Wickham, Hugill, Watkins and Campbell/Vaughan

Would rather Vaughan who scored 24 league goals last season on a free transfer than shelling out a loan fee/big wages for Daryl Murphy.

Vaughan is only 28, probably on a small wage and would be a decent squad filler non the less.
He is 29 on Thursday and has scored 7 in his last 45 appearances in the championship. But yes he'll probably be cheap'ish.

The consortium involving Tony Adams and a Chinese multi millionaire are still in the background looking for replacement backers for the Sunderland 73 lads. Adams does not want to be manager so everyone can rest easy. This isn't over by a long chalk.
Btw, price agreed was 60m plus extra 20 if we got promoted.

Watmore is a striker who has done a job for us as a winger. So we have watmore and Maja and need minimum 2 more imo. Then we have Asoro as cover until we see what he's about.

What has Graysons record in the transfer market been like over the years ?

He's been dropping down the leagues because of injuries, not a lack of quality. It's been the story of his career.

The fact he managed to play the whole of last season suggests it would be a good signing.

If it weren't for injuries then he'd have made it in the premier league with us.

While that's the case then we will spend very little to nothing.

Absolutely but big Si did say he has some money to spend, not the biggest budget in the ch'ship, but not the smallest either.
He will use it wisely, I am certain of that.

Scoring 0 in last 19 appearances in the championship seems to also suggest a dramatic reduction in quality.
