I think some of our fans need a reality check

We need to be folllowing the likes of Burnley, Brighton, Huddersfield putting a team together on a budget that's full of spirit and fight, not just trying to be fashionable right now. We are no longer a PL team and we need to get ourselves out of debt!

Look where it got us in the past and we don't have the resources.

While like everyone I foubd the appointment of Grayson initially underwhelming, however in hindsight he is actually what we need right now. Everything he says in his interview is spot on as well about what's needed.

Best of luck to him. He is seeing this as his big opportunity. Knows what is required and has that kind of confidence/belief in his ability that BSA had, which I think will do us good.
We've been accepting shite for too long, the mags got relegated and they demanded they went back up, we've been relegated and there's loads of threads and posts of accepting championship football etc etc. We are as passive a fan base there is, we have little amibition for our football club and are all too ready to accept shite.

What do you expect us to do?

What do you expect us to do?
Demand more from the club, where's shorts end of season statement, what's the f***ing plan for the club going forward, will fans be kept informed or will he do his normal disappearing act till the manager is sacked. There's many many questions left unanswered, will he still be trying to sell the club or is that now it for the foreseeable future. What kind of funds will be given, will the scouts be replaced, what's the clubs aims.

I can't help but feel like with the appointment of Grayson and confirmation we will be proceeding with an owner who won't find improvement we have accepted out place as a Championship also ran.

It's need subtle but the club has been lowering expectations for months and the takeover was our only hope of things changing for the better.

The mags went down and embarked on a clear, positive campaign with a manager who had won the champions league and la liga. We have wasted the summer and are going to be managed by a no mark bottom feeder.

Obviously I hope he proves me wrong but I just can't see it. It's an absolutely shocking plight and it won't be getting better soon. Buckle up for championship football for a long time.

Lost all faith in SAFC to get anything right under Short. Especially now he is not even trying to compete.
It's got that bad I think I would have preferred if we had given it to Bally

Well I heard he'll have anything from 6m to 20m plus sales from now to spend, so I'll hang on before I make vague assumptions .

For me it's the fact that we haven't had any communication on how the club want to progress, the only communication we've had is that of Mcinnes turning us down and the consortium being interested and then Short telling them to fuck off and Grayson being appointed manager. We need to have a clear honest vision, otherwise fans feel cut out of the loop and will jump to conclusions.

As a former coach within the game I can see the thinking behind Grayson, that's obvious, but the reality is totally different, especially when our recruitment team have up and left. We are down on quality of player, we are down on physicality in midfield, we are down on determination and passion, and we are up on age and money spent on wages. The team is a shambles because Short missed opportunities to back the team and push them on. We are now seemingly settling in for a championship stay lasting longer than what we fans want. Grayson will steady the ship, we may even miss out on the play offs this season, however if and when promotion comes, he is NOT the man to lead us in the premiership. We should have brought in a youthful forward thinking coach to learn from Grayson.

In an ideal world I'd have appointed Nigel Pearson - he's a student of Allardyce, he set Leicester up as a successful club with clear and defined procedures on player recruitment and fitness and on squad mentality.

the official transfer window opens July 1st so we have not "wasted" the summer

short invited offers for the club, which has lead to offers coming in, which have not met his expectation

he stated he would set a deadline for offers, then proceed as owner and appoint a manager

he has done that immediately.

now the window is to open and it is to be seen, what is to happen
I agree with this generally. However, most managers will have had their transfer targets lined up in these weeks before the window opens.
Saying that, he knows this league and may know who exactly he wants already.

I think we've had a few high profile managers over the last 10 or so years and none have brought any success. Maybe it's time to try something different?

I can answer most of that. Yes he will sell the club to the right deal. It's ridiculous to tell people how much you have to spend. Yes Grayson will have his own people to identify targets. The club aims to be promoted as soon as possible.
Hope this helps.

Guess we will have to see if Grayson is supported in the transfer market, what sort of player we bring in and what tune he gets out of them.

Sensible post you should be sectioned for such a thing

accepted out place as a Championship also ran.
everything is cyclical, we're just back to where the club started for me... for some its something they've seen many times... for some its a new experience...

fact is, we are championship also ran... hopefully not for as long as in previous incarnations...

Harsh calling him a no mark imo, bloke's won four promotions at four different clubs, none of which were splashing the cash. He's got a track record of being able to build competitive teams with a good work ethic on a low budget, which suits us down to the ground.
don't bring facts to a navel gazing thread...

He's done well in league one and mediocre in the championship. He's not what we need or should be happy with. Can't believe some think it's astute....canr believe anyone thinks anything associated with the current owner is astute. He's a massive failure.

How would you do that?

That's like saying we've tried a few 10m pound strikers and they haven't done well....we might as well try someone from the conference.

Four promotions and he's a failure? That is one of the stupidest things I have ever read on here, and that takes some doing.
