While like everyone I foubd the appointment of Grayson initially underwhelming, however in hindsight he is actually what we need right now. Everything he says in his interview is spot on as well about what's needed.

Best of luck to him. He is seeing this as his big opportunity. Knows what is required and I has that kind of confidence/belief in his ability that BSA had, which I think will do is good.

He's arguably exactly the type of manager we need at this moment.
 
It's a safe appointment, underwhelming yes but safe nonetheless. We're going to really struggle to get out of this league imho.

TBH I know very little about Grayson so I don't really know if that's a good appointment or not.
My main concern is about who is making the decisions and what the long term plan is.
We seemed to be setting up a structure (at least I thought that was the idea) under Simon Wilson, we had brought in a chief scout presumably both to work longer term and put in place good structures.
Does Grayson now have complete control? Will he be bringing all his own people in?

Tbf to short he's the top of blame list for where we are today however totally agree with the above.

What's happened has happened it's now about moving forward with a manager that see's us as a privilege to manage as opposed to the ungrateful Moyes!

Grayson will be fighting tooth and nail to be successful.

He's very accomplished in the football league so will have a good view of what's available to improve the squad.

We have a decent core to start with so just need to fill the gaps sufficiently!

I'm actually excited and looking forward to the future surely it's going to be better than getting twated every week in the premier league!!
 
We have been pretending to be a premier league outfit for years but it has been all fur coat and no knickers, lurching from one disaster to the next and appointing 'big name managers' in the hope of finding a quick fix.

this approach has failed at every turn so I can't see the point of carrying on down the same route.

Hopefully we can now clear the decks and try and build ourselves as a proper team and club from the ground up. Stability and steady progress is the key and I'm quite happy if it takes a couple of season in the championship to build a proper platform to build from.

While I generally agree (championship manager, budget and player quality) we have needed to reboot for a while now, get everyone singing from the same hymn sheet and maybe in all the mediocrity we'll find a bit of belief and our identity again, we tried to run with the big boys and it lasted longer than it should of really, we've been pretty dreadful on the whole for years now and all we have done is rack up more debt and get beaten a lot, while I wasn't completely convinced he is the man for us he's of the calibre we could expect and probably need, someone with a dogged determination to sort us out top to bottom and more likely to see the job through than someone who thinks he's doing us a favour by being here.

Mate, the clubs credibibily if threadbare. I've said before, Mags Byrne, AJ, DoF debacle, impossibly shit and non profitable business, Alvarez, NYC trips, Rodwell non relegation clause, Defoes contract ensuring no resale.... the club is a PR train wreck! I think we might all have to accept that we will be a Championship also ran for a period of time.

It's like Leeds all over again. Cash, crash and burn.

I said earlier this is gonna be 1993 all over again, us lingering in the second tier for years the mags doing well.iv already seen quite a few scum tops in Sunderland since them fuckers got promoted.

Giving us a team of players who want to fight for the shirt would be a start. I do get tired of reading how impatient we are, supporters from other clubs have no idea some of the shit we have seen over the last few seasons, we must have been consistently the least attractive team to watch for at least 3 seasons, it was great being in the Premier, but whats the point if you have a team full of players who look like they couldnt give a fuck, and the final straw, a manager who had everyone on f***ing suicide watch
 
We're fucked and have no money, a basket case of a club. He's the best we could have done in the circumstances IMO.
