How well did Eddie Howe do at Burnley? Fwiw McInnes came in in a dire situation and saved them from the drop initially, Bristol city back then, four years ago i might add, they were a mess. He's since done well "pub league" or not.
But hey, lets just totally write him off shall we
Exactly this. If some are going to write a manager off, because he once failed at another club, then they'll never be happy with who we can attract here.

Anyone change their mind about him today in what was budget wise a Man City v buttons Utd game?

Thought we were excellent, had a game plan, stuck to the game plan, no one gave up!
Imagine any of that at safc!?
Not that I changed my mind, but the more I hear and read about him, it does sound like an interesting option.

My nagging doubt is he has habit of making negative substitutions - he did it in the semi final against Hibs and they lost the lead and again today taking off McGinn for O'Connor.

Substitutions? Is that that thing where Khazri gets 7 minutes every week?

Think he is best on potential list of targets. Unfortunately once compensation is mentioned Bain will moonwalk out of the door

This, would have started Rooney today and not stockley, mcginn always does fuck all against Celtic tho

On a more serious note I'd rather have Derek Trotter as Manager rather than Derek McInnes. He's built a reputation based on Rangers not being in the Premier League :D

Maybe I'm out of touch, but weren't Rangers in the SPL this season, Aberdeen finished 2nd, and entered the cup too, where Aberdeen finished 2nd...

Other experience apart from 4 years at St Mirren (1 x title) & 8 years at Aberdeen (3 x title 5 x cup 1 x European trophy)-absolutely none.

yes, I was knocking the poster who suggested SPL 'doesn't count'. Mcinnes has managed in England, Fergie hadn't. How stupid must Man Utd have been...

Who were they ?

Not backing him, but how much 'real experience' by your definition did Alex Ferguson have pre-Man Utd, less than McInnes certainly.
