Mate of mine who is a huge Sunderland fan was telling me that in the last 10 years, Sunderland's net transfer outlay totalled £150million - and still they are shite and a club always struggling to avoid relegation.

It irks the mackems somewhat that their biggest rival (at "skunk park" as they call it) just up the road have spent a net outlay of £50 million.

Sunderland need root and branch surgery from top to bottom.

Is McIness really wanting to go to a joke club where it will take years to just weed out the dross signings of previous managers with no guarantee of success?

McInnes may well move on, but I doubt very much he'd want to go to a shit club like Sunderland.

It's not my setup marra.
I just try my best to be a bit impartial and separate the ill informed generalised comments from fact.
 
I hope that this time we actually interview people instead of just giving it to someone because of a recommendation. Why not give some coaching /managerial prospects the chance to impress. We've seen that exexperience isn't necessarily a guarantee of success. I'm not against McInnes, I'd just like to see the club explore a few options.

I'd be interested to find out what kind of a manager he is. The character is more important than the name for this appointment. We need someone hungry, someone who will build a young (hopefully pacey) side, someone happy to attack teams wouldn't go amiss and, after Moyes, I would like to see someone the players want to play for, maybe fairly passionate on the touchline. If he's like that then I'll be happy, if he's nearer to Paul Lambert I'll be gutted!

Not going to get into the slagging of Aberdeen or their league, they are a fairly big club to be fair and the few fans of theirs I've met have been canny. My concern though is that, with Rangers out of the picture and now still trying to get back together, he doesn't seem to have done anything to stand out. Win one cup, came second in the league (miles off the pace, albeit Celtic are hard to challenge), can't remember them having any particularly inspiring European runs. Has he really been a massive success or has he largely been the right man at the right time with Rangers struggling? If we go for him I'll give him a chance mind, again if he's at least a bit passionate it might make watching us less of a chore even if we still don't win many!

I think you'll find that the Scotch managers , being from the distilleries, don't really have the competency to coach footie teams so there' s no prospect of that happening!

On the other hand there is a hot favourite ( Derek McInnes) who is a Scot but divnae let that confuse you. I'd encourage you to still function as the Grammar Policeman .....oh the fuckin irony !
 
In his League Cup win, a career highlight, he beat f***ing Alloa on penalties, Falkirk, Motherwell, St Johnstone and Inverness on penalties.

Brilliant that like. Hoy in his Bristol City sucesss and we've found a real winner here.
