Some startling stuff in the national newspapers as the Sunderland car crash finally smashes itself up and bursts into flame. Accusations that Moyes had feigned his intent to stay for weeks, players who rebelled over a cancelled Christmas party and 'stars' who couldn't even perform basic training drills. Moyes: The Fall-out This has a way to run...

More at Roker Report...

'It was at Sunderland’s base in the picturesque spa town of Evian that the size of the task in hand started to dawn on him.

'His squad were incapable of completing even the most basic of training drills.

'And in private, Moyes was wondering how his predecessor Sam Allardyce had managed the keep the same flops up in the previous season.'

'What Short failed to tell his manager was that he was trying to sell his debt-ridden club.

'And Moyes soon realised funds were not so freely available when, to his annoyance, his attempts to sign Watford’s Troy Deeney and Leicester’s Leonardo Ulloa were blocked.'

The only thing I might disagree with is the statement that Sam got them playing way above their ability levels. I think it's a bit more that moyes got them playing way below.
Sam had a better squad though. Kone and Kaboul both playing well. Kirchoff and Catts fit most of the time.

Its a huge difference.
What Moyes failed to do, which BSA did, was to spend limited funds wisely.

Lets be fair about this, barring the odd occasion, we've barely been about to string two passes together let alone keep possession while we've been in this league since we peaked under Bruce.

However, as the season unfolded, he privately accused several of failing to try hard enough, either in matches or in training

Can well believe this

His remarks left his squad uninspired, demotivated and resigned to relegation – how could they believe when their manager did not believe in them?

One long-serving player recently commented how he could tell Moyes “didn’t care” anymore.

And the same star rounded on him again after Sunday’s final-day defeat at Chelsea, when a handful of Sunderland’s foreign legion – some of which Moyes had signed – claimed they were injured and ducked out of the game.

'His squad were incapable of completing even the most basic of training drills.

Not sure I believe this

Yep you are right BUT when moyes took over we where not a certain relegated side. Between him and Short we took a side and team spirit that I firmly believe where good enough to finish mid table and then got them relegated by the second game of the season.

Then why didn't he walk then? If he had anything about him he would have said you misled me to get me to sign and unless you release the funds I'll go. If he'd done this then walked his reputation would have been intact and he could have got another job elsewhere. As it stands I doubt he'll ever work again at least not at club level.

I'd believe what O'Shea says over moyes every time (if he was one of the senior players that said anything obviously)

It's seems neither side come out smelling a roses. Questions have to asked about Moyes and his man-management style. That's 3 jobs in 4 years he has lost the dressing in quick time. You have to ask how Allardyce got a tune out of this squad. He was critical of them too, even telling them they were unfit and had to listen to him. I think Moyes went in here with the notion that we weren't any good and he was the one to sort us a out rather than building on what Allardyce felt.

'His squad were incapable of completing even the most basic of training drills' - This reminds of him shown Vidic and Ferdinand videos of Phil Jagielka and telling them to watch how he defends. That must have pissed them off to no end!
