He's had 2 seasons in a shite team and still scored goals. There are plenty of players to have a go at but he's not 1 of them
Same shite all the time. People are gutless, spineless etc whenever we aren't winning. You'd think it would've dawned on people that we just aren't very good.

These last few months have stopped him becoming an absolute legend in my eyes.

No it doesn't. But not moving off the ball, not closing the defenders down, not getting back onside quickly when the ball goes downfield all mean you've downed tools.
At £80K a week for the last three months he is no loss at all.

When we see how shit we have become and Defoe has been part of it, he's not totally exempt from criticism, exactly the same for Bent and SKP when they were here.
In it together, you cannot just look at past form and ignore everything else.

No fair enough mate, think we on a different page here, I think he is very good professional who has performed well overall for us and looking at the bigger picture as done very well overall.
My grip is for the posters who in the past have heaped praise after praise for him compared him to the best strikers in the league etc etc, even called him a legend (he has been here 2 years!) then the moment it is clear he is leaving all of the sudden well he was not that good anyway,it happened with Bent the same way no balance.

How are they not trying? We lost 2-0. If they weren't trying it would be 5s,6s and 7s every week man. We are a poor poor side.
The goals we conceded were an individual error from Pickford (who's been excellent this season) and a fantastic strike from their lad. Neither were down to lack of effort.

Certainly got a point maxi but also the new stadium brought with it a lot of 'new' fans who were used to relative success in its first few seasons. It seems if lads don't measure up to likes of Quinn and Phillips they aren't given lickings of dog whenever a lull in form occurs.
