2000 empty seats.

Preston had 500 fans there last night. The two blocks next to Preston fans were empty as well.
Still a canny turn out though. 1500 empty seats in home sections.
Great turn out not denying that, but the mags always comment on our attendances when theres empty seats. We are rock bottom of the table and have been poor for years and they are are going for the title in the Championship and they always say there was 52000 screaming geordies there even when the attendances have been well below that.

Really bugs you all that Newcastle's higher profile is being confirmed by the high level of media coverage and positive responses from other teams' fans. When you finally exit the Premier League there will barely be a ripple of interest outside the North East. Also when the fixtures come out in June I doubt there will be many Championship fans rushing to see when their teams are playing Sunderland.
Not so much positive media coverage for Nufc today!

Getting plenty of attention on here though. Barely noticed Sunderland were playing a game.

As Kieron Brady said on tonight's Total Sport, clubs like Sunderland and Newcastle should not celebrate getting promoted from the second tier as they shouldn't have got themselves there in the first place. If they are in it then getting up is job done and anything else is failure.

I agree with him on this, and also with his assessment that the notion going down is canny because you might win a few games is completely defeatist and lacking ambition.
Totally agree, its like when Arsenal wildly celebrated yet another fourth place finish at St James a few years back. Pleased to be back but no time for big party.

Most of your players had their faces up their arses at full time. Especially Colback when Rafa went over to him.Lacelles n Ritchie were even worse.
I thought it was very measured to be honest. No lap of honour or anything close. There will be one after Barnsley, but that happens every year regardless of where we have finished.

You cannot knock a 51,000 average in the Premier League let alone the Championship.

Was it shite. Rafa, on his todd walking about and didn't have a clue what to do. Many divisions in your squad as in ours.

Should have paid your tax, can't wait till it all comes crashing down

Didn't look like that in the dressing room photos. Rafa has done a good job so has earned the applause. Its not that long ago that people were queueing up, not least on here, claiming that he wouldn't have a clue in the Championship.

Hey if Sunderland can get away with playing a known paedo for nearly a year, I'm sure we'll be fine. If we're not I think we'll be in good company as it looks like this was just the first salvo in an HMRC assault on football clubs.

It's his farewell photos. He wasn't interested in the players.
He's ruthless like all good managers. Any and all of them will be sold if better options are available. Its the only way to get better. Keegan knew this in 1993 when he sold the top two scorers, Kelly and Peacock, because he had Cole and Beardsley lined up.

You keep thinking that , oh and reported
Your CEO had to resign for this remember?
