Protest At The Man United Game

"You're right though, it won't force shorts hand or have much effect."

You were implying Villa was sold because of the protests ...... you have no idea as you've now admitted.
No I wasn't man. I said they were sold shortly after the protests. That was in response to someone who said they hadn't been sold after protests. I pointed out they were sold shortly after the protests. Stop being weird.

Fair enough ..... so you can't say the protests had any effect whatsoever and won't claim they did in future, I'm clear now.

1) I am absolutely sure Lerner knew about the protests. I mean, they may not have influenced his sale or whatever, but no one will ever convince me he was completely unaware of them. He will have known.

2) I wasn't concluding a causal link - look at what I said again - The poster made the claim that at Villa they had protested and still had the same owner. I was pointing out that this was untrue as after the protests the club was quickly sold. I don't know if the protests had an effect. In some clubs I'm sure protests have an effect, in others Im sure they don't. I have no idea if they did in Villa's case or if it was just coincidence as you say. What I am saying categorically though is it's just untrue to say that Villa fans protested and they now have the same owner - they don't.

3) I wasn't saying the 2 years was impossible - just asking for a source. My understanding is that some deals go through fast e.g. Murray to Drummaville and some can take an age. Depends on various factors, again, I don't know what the case was with Villa.

Excited for the accounts coming out by the way? I'm hoping for some 8 hour shifts on here from you!

I'm not sure excited is precisely the right word :).

They'll be ..... interesting. Profit-wise they could be worse than we might think - not because of anything funny in the trading sense, but because of the change in CEO. There's a tendency with incoming execs for them to try to shovel all bad news back into an accounting period for which they weren't responsible; a kind of clearing the decks. I wouldn't be surprised to see some heavy writedowns in player values (Villa wrote off tens of millions with the change of ownership); the trick will be separating the one-offs from the underlying. I might have to do a tl;dr version for the hard of thinking ;)

You are my new favourite poster.
Rarely post mate until idiots continue to defend Short or try and take the piss out of fans who are proud of their club and are attempting to make a difference.
You clearly have a defeatist attitude and are happy to accept the way we're been ran, which is fair enough. But dont try and take the mick out of fans who have had enough and strive for greater things than yourself.

Don't put money into the club. That's the only protest the owner will hear.

Well said mate.

What I'll be most interested in seeing, personally, is whether our debt with SBC has gone up or down. I think that what % of our debt Ellis has chosen to put with SBC vs himself is probably the biggest indication of where he's likely to be going with the club.

Things like this are key issues, it is genuinely staggering that a seemingly large percentage of our fans are completely oblivious to this

I have a very positive attitude mate. If I was a defeatist I'd simply give up and stop going. I'm a class supporter come to think about it like. I'm there no matter what.

Aslong as it doesn't interfere in my day yous can protest to your hearts content.

So why patronise those who are trying to make a difference? Fair enough not wanting to get involved but to patronise others is pathetic.

It should be down, unless it's been topped up to the level of the repayments made. The filing documents make it clear that it's an £85m facility, and there's nothing at Companies House to suggest that's changed.

Not as pathetic as thinking matchday attending supporters are part of the problem like. I take it you are just walking over from the pub at full time to take part in the protests?

How is a protest going to make a difference? He wants to sell and is patently aware nobody is happy with our current predicament.
