sub-20k

We'd have to be struggling against Relegation to get crowds that low I think. If we're doing well and chasing the play offs at least then we'll probably average the mid 30k for the season.

What was our average crowd the last time we were in the championship? Was it about 30,000?

Yes.

To be clear, I wasn't suggesting we'll average under 20,000 next year, and I have no doubt we'll be getting 35,000-40,000 if we're going like a train at the arse end of the season.

I just asked whether anyone thought they would dip that low (if doing badly obviously or if we have a horrendous summer), even if just on one occasion.

I didn't say I was giving up going. I said I was not renewing.

Evening games are difficult for me and I have two young children that I'd like to do other things with of a weekend.

Shouldn't feel like you have to explain yourself, going to matches is a massive commitment time and money-wise... especially when so many people at the club seem to not give a shit.

Doesn't matter about attendances. Could have 100,000 people there and there'd still not be a peep, and yes this does apply to the mags as well

2003-04
Sunderland AFC Average 27.120 -31,7% Highest 36.278
2004-05
13 Sunderland AFC CP 28.821 +6,3% 47.350

This is quite a large fall by any standards.

It's ok they'll all be back if/when we get back to the premier league. Be the same people who complained about season tickets

ah the same season ticket holders who never went to league cup games then snaffled all the final tickets, them season ticket holders ?

I probably went to more games then most season ticket holders that season and paid more per game than most. The way it was handled was a shambles tbf.

Anyone reckon we'll see a sub-20,000 crowd at home next season?

Recall 22,000 vs Watford at home in 2003 when Stephen Wright scored, and 22,000 when we beat WBA at home in 2006 with Keane in the stands (did Whitehead stick one in direct from a corner?!).

There is just so much apathy about at present I can see a sub-20,000 crowd, perhaps for a midweek game against someone with shite away support.
Maths wasn't your strongest point I take it

If we're winning games (big if) the crowds will still turn up, if we're bottom of the league then we could see some terrible gates, I'll still be there like, masochism comes to mind.
