I agree but all the fookas should get 6 years, few women have been convicted recently but received lesser sentences.....

There is a gender gap, and it should be addressed (as should all gender gaps to be fair), but my stance would be "Their sentences should be longer", not "His sentence seems harsh".

The former is bringing everyone up to a fair standard, the latter is lowering the standard, which could set dangerous precedents.

No sympathy, looks like that is the end of the road now (legally) for Johnson.

On the issue of female sex offenders, their sentences are laughably light, they need to be brought into line.

I agree. There wouldn't even be a debate about it if females received a similar sentence.

I agree with this, especially teachers and others in a position of responsibility with children.

Cant believe people on here are defending him, his name is a stain on the club! The crime was bad enough but his actions afterwards were disgraceful made the club look bad

pre meditation is the key here.

Intention to kill rather than pre-meditation.

Not sure anyone has defended him, mind. Questioning the length of a sentence is something different.

You cannot compare sentences. Each one is unique in its own right.

Sign him up.

You can where the case circs are sufficiently similar, but naturally the mitigating and aggravating factors often differ.

Sentencing guidelines tend to dictate, rather than case law.

The implication being that his guilt is immaterial and a better lawyer would have got him off?
He was found guilty by the jury because of 1 message, "you felt turned on" that jury was in a hurry because 2 members were in a hurry to finish the trial, it was the defence lawyers advice to deny the other 2 charges for so long.

Despite what you think of him it's and absolutely ridiculous sentence

And he only received it because he's a footballer
Correct.
