Staff Redundancies at SAFC

I think the day a footballer is made redundant is pretty much long gone. At the top level anyway. Payet the shithouse refuses to play for West Ham they sell him at a huge profit. Where as morally firing him would of been the best thing. I mean if we go down down we might get 500k for Rodwell where as when he's sacked we get nowt and sadly you can't sell a member of backroom staff.
The redundancies are horrible even if they are necessary to the business. I've been in this position 4out of last 7xmases with different companies and this year my position is still only week to week and I work for a company with 10times the employees Sunderland do. Life is a bitch and that's a fact. Only in my walk of life it's the tools who get punished while the office staff are indispensable.

Footballers are on a fixed term contract , redundancy isn't an option for the club to use for a player , they pay the contract up then don't renew it.

When they wanted shot of Stefan Schwarz they tried to let him go with three months pay , he just pointed out the length his contract had left to run and. Told them to honour it , which they had no choice.

The general staff are a different issue all together, any of them who didn't see some sort of cut backs coming must be blind to the obvious as unpleasant as it is.

Erm?
£140m in debt
Disinterested owner
No one wanting to buy the club
Bottom of the league
Aged playing staff without any sell on value
Staff being made redundant

Totally agree, between stupid playing recruitment without sell on value, constant changing of managers and general wasting of money. The clubs hierarchy need to take a long hard look at themselves

It's not as bad as Portsmouth.

The 140m in debt could be halved instantly through player sales, re-finance it, cut costs and then pay loans back steadily.

We're a bigger club than them anyway. Lets not make it worse than it is,

We have maybe 2 players we could make a profit on and we would still owe money on transfers. If the plan is to sell everybody and not replace them with anything better we would be screwed.

8 players out of contract and another 5 or so not fit for purpose a portsmouth scenario isnt out the question.

i think its more along the lines of Leeds myself, looking at the history, there last year or so in the premiership is scary compared to ourselfs

9 players out of contract

Rodwell
Matthews
Khazri
Lens
Jones

All waste of a shirt.

Borini-attitude a disgrace lucky to get 7 million

Pickford-first big bid gets him

Defoe-off like a shot

Kone- lucky to get that 18 million again.

Djili-would he stay/would we want him

Catts-that league would finish him

Be like an u23 side with what we would be left with.

Sorry, but I don't really buy into this £140 million debt. Couldn't possibly be owed to certain US banks and investment companies could it!?!

Back in the 70's,Dave Watson downed tools for us to instigate a move to Man City. The mags had a problem with Snircek. He came out and said he was going to accept being their number 3 keeper and was going to hang around for 18 months until his contract expired so he could move in a free and pick up a canny signing on fee.Why don't the majority of players hand over their shirts after a game to fans.

2002/03 over again, the summer we lost phillips springs to mind here.

Redundancies are a fact of life.

They also ruin lives.

Joleon Lescott will likely earn in his stint here what most of these 40 people earn in a year.

Moyes and Bain are completely teflon coated.

No other fan base in the country would applaud their club sat at the bottom of the league watching their team preparing for relegation and ripping the piss with twee marketing campaigns claiming we're all in this together whilst making 40 people unemployed in one of the poorest cities in the country and having a knees up in New York.

It beggars belief what our fans will tolerate.

By this same stage last season Villa fans had literally taken to the streets and forced most of the club hierarchy into hiding.

Our lot are applauding the grim reaper who even when he tells us everything is fucked still has everyone lapping it up.

That worked out well didn't it

again just like that era...
Scary.

The difference being we are in the richest league in europe/the world and have been for a decade. The level of sheer incompetence is mind boggling yet some still look to defend it.

so after looking at that, it is possible that by looking to our own history, we may very well see a preview of what is to come, unlike then.. now its mismanagement, loans out to banks and loan company's.. and interest payments, the price of not being able to repay simple.. every asset we have is up as collateral, very dark times indeed.

The loan interest from the year is about the same as our january spending:oops:

indeed, the sign of the times and the real reason moyes is manager. aka keep transfer fees down buy low sell high, he is the perfect manager for short, no question about it other wise, the amount of contract time he has 3 half years now, would be less if he wasn't, if we go down its going to be very dark indeed.. leeds here we come maybe
