Staff Redundancies at SAFC

Gets them away from it all doesn't it - away from negativity of being bottom of the league. Try and instill a better mood in the camp.

 And there ends the debate.
The same people would be twisting regardless of where the players went. Only time will tell if it was a "strange choice".

They probably have to give statutory 90 day notice of redundancies in the event that we get relegated but it doesn't mean that will happen.
Aye this.

3 months till the end of the season.

Its a horrific situation for anyone going through it. I am about to at my own work.

People have life changing choices to make. Do we sit out and hope for a few weeks wages redundancy compensation or do we jump now at the first thing that comes along.

My mate's in New York now man, it's not that expensive. It'll have cost bot all in relative terms.

New York is expensive like. Paying for 25 lads or so to go, probably flying business class and staying in a decent hotel, will have cost the club a fair few quid.

It would have been a lot cheaper going to a different destination for a bit of running, cycling and team building.

Sit tight if you like where you work. In my experience most of the people that go want to. They have to consider all voluntary redundancy requests before making people redundant themselves.

Not just that for me - You can team bond in any place in the world. No need to go to one of the most expensive cities in the world to just bond, cycle and use a gym.

Can confirm this is wrong - at least for the first leg of the journey - lad I know was on the same flight as them down to London and sat in front of Moyes

I seem to remember a trip to Dubai last season reaping some nice rewards

What is expensive is wasting millions on shite players, failed sponsorship deals and hosting concerts that leave you out of pocket. You really need to see the bigger picture here.

It still doesn't matter. It'll have made no difference whatsoever to redundancies at the club.

An argument for warm weather training there though which is proven to assist recovery.

Think everyone is aware of this though mate. I certainly am. However, its the PR message that this sends out. Absolutely lifting.

Bain is doing his job, I'm sure he'd love to be handing out pay rises instead of P45's. Shit situation though, many of us will have worked for failing businesses in the past, I hope all affected find new jobs (if it comes to that).

he's been brought in to do exactly what he's doing, chop all the outgoings he can. not a nice job at all.
he's Ellis Short's Norman Tebbitt.

Totally agree. Fairly sure Roy Keane used to take them go karting and paint balling and that was the last time a Sunderland side had any kind of consistent and obvious team spirit. There's absolutely no reason why they couldn't have stayed in this country to do the training they did as well as having a bit time together bonding.

I can understand when they go away for warm weather training, for a lot of lads playing here it's probably depressing to be freezing their tits off every day in the north east. That makes it all the more baffling why we chose NYC.

Agree mate, said the same as this since it got announced. Waiting on a couple of lads to text back to see what they were told this morning. It's also some people at the AOL that are going too.
