I'm not beating up Sunderland, I'm arguing that the gap between mid table PL and top of the Chsmpionship isn't huge. Stop being so precious.

As for the 'tin pot' leagues a lot of us older ones had one of the best seasons in the 3rd flight.
To be fair I can understand younger supporters you've been force fed the PL slick marketing thinking it must have been shite., but it honestly wasn't.

Ive been going since 1989.
Of course you enjoyed the third division, we won the league. I loved our time in the Championship, as we won most weeks. Enjoyment isn't what is being debated. The standard of football is. And the Championship is shite.

Just missed out on the 3rd flight you might have a different perspective if you were a few years older. Although 89-90 was a great time to be in the tin pot league, beating the mags in the play offs. Surely that floated your boat.

Promoted teams (like Leeds, Forest, Brighton, Derby, Sheff Wed) w/o parachute payments £20 m to £100m, + £80 m in the first season.
Relegation for established PL Clubs (like Sunderland, Swansea, Palace) £100m reduced to £60m, -£40 m in the first season.
Newcastle and Huddersfield have had luck with lack of injuries this season whereas all the other contenders have been decimated with injuries. This will not last out for the whole season.
I will not put any money on Newcastle. A better bet is the opposition.
