Well said marra. It's not about getting big crowds in. It's about the squad having the chance to play at The SOL, especially the new players, before the season starts.

These are professional footballers man, it isnt like winning a goldfish at the funfair and opening it up when you put it in its new bowl at home to get used to the temperature of the water. These players we have bought are likely to of been crap on the pitch they were playing at at the club they were bought from
Moyes wants home friendlies and the opportunity to have our first league game at home.
This has also had an effect on concerts.
And we're supposed to be a football club, not a concert venue that disrupts pre-season and makes no money
Man City had about 8 gigs last summer and we played them at their place first game. I dont personally see what a friendly in an empty stadium will achieve either, apart from probably costing money.
Surely, we'dbe better playing 'home' ones at Bishop Auckland again and the likes of Shields and Consett etc to try and attract younger fans in split areas?
f***ing legend if you ask me,he will become king on the day he slays the other mincey haired tosser in publicBain's stock has just gone right up !

I really don't understand how Beyonce playing at the stadium in June has had an affect on how the team has performed at home.
The stadium is usually not ready until the week the season starts. Moyes wants to play friendlies at home and a chance of 1st game at home. I'm guessing he wants football to be the priority
If you then take into account that they bring no money in reportedly, why do them?
This. I've been going since 1987 and I can probably count 10 or so home friendlies in that time. Half of those will have been testimonials. They're just not something that we do. And I don't believe the lack of them has any affect on our season at all. Most people wouldn't be interested in them anyway so can't see them being financially viable which is where all the focus seems to be.Man City had about 8 gigs last summer and we played them at their place first game. As a music fan and concert goer I think it's been brilliant that Sunderland has welcomed some of the worlds biggest artists over the last few years. I'm disappointed that it's ending.Man City played more Stone Roses concerts than we did in total before you look at the other artists and their stadium was ready a week before our 1st home game and they travelled 10,000 miles for pre season friendly. We went to switzerland and yorkshire.
As for the money i think the club has a responsibility to the local area and these concerts are fantastic for that.
Can't be good for the local economy either. As a music fan and concert goer it's been brilliant that Sunderland has welcomed some of the worlds biggest artists over the last few years. I'm disappointed that it's ending.

Organisers get a huge cut which in the case of the Beyoncé one was SJMHow the fuck do you lose money on a sold out Beyoncé concert?![]()
Exactly. Good things are happening in the city and hotels being built. Yet the concerts are going the journey. Doesn't make sense to me.Can't be good for the local economy either.
