There are no registered bookies that offer private betting between two personal parties, they would lose their licence if they were found to do it as it's an easy way to launder money.
The only way you would do business is if a) I went through a rainbow unicorn/illegal bookie or b) handed £500 with no cover to a stranger on the internet.
You refused to do business with any service that offered me a modicum of protection.
