The Benitez Myth ...... is crystallising.

Bit by bit, thanks to the likes of Thewliss and the rest of the media, the myth is being carved in stone that 'if only Rafa had come in a month earlier' they would've avoided relegation and would now be starting the march to glory ...... well it's bollocks.

Under McClaren the cry was always 'loads of quality, just need a little organisation', I saw it posted on here dozens of times.

When Benitez was appointed he repeated that 'fact' and pointed out why they would stay up. "We need to give the players confidence. I know we have ability,” he says, "I’m here because I believe we’re good enough to stay in the Premier League.”

He was given huge wages and an open hand to do whatever it took to save the club from relegation.
He said he could do the job, with that squad, in the time he had.
Tufty was derided for insisting they were improving ......... Newcastle were rubbish against Villa but it isn't the fault of the latest Messiah, no sir.

In reality, whatever the claims that he's 'tightened up the defence' or 'instilled a new ethic' they're still shite.

The facts, rather than the fiction, are that since he arrived Newcastle have failed against Sunderland, Norwich & Villa. The new improved defence conceded 8 goals in the 3 away games before Villa and they only managed 3 on target shots at Villa Park ........ Villa had conceded an average of 3 goals in the 5 previous games.

In a game Newcastle simply had to win, Benitez got the tactics, selection and substitutions wrong.

So now Ashley has to take the blame, as usual, because King Rafa was 'brought in too late'.

I truly hope he stays, as everyone seems to be praying for, and makes a complete fuck up as he's done so far.

I've just heard one of them at work say the reason they lost is because the fans were too good and too loud.

It scared the players as most aren't used to playing infront of that many people that are that passionate.

I was f***ing gobsmacked.
They were fairly quiet for the last Derby.

I think Beneathus will string a decent set of results together and they'll do ok this season. As amusing as the poor start is we know that it's not the sign of a shit season ahead in the sky bet.

Love to be proved wrong on this point mind

I think you may be right but for now it's funny.

You can't imagine how that much money and 'talent' can fail to produce results in the 2nd division.

If it doesn't the question would be how much damage Benitez will allow to his 'reputation'.

He's too young to consider this as a 'shit or bust' option for too long and will already be thinking of his next job.

I just hope they finish out of the top two. If it's play offs I think this squad will crumble. Which will lead to another happy summer for us.

As the club Santa Claus ? No padding needed
That could be the way they announce him. They sack Rafa mid December. They piss about as they think they can get Mancinio or Pellegrini. Then come a game around Christmas Eve/Boxing Day suddenly Santa is sat in the dugout. Just before the game starts takes off his hat and beard to reveal pasty face himself.

Wise words mate...if Rafa is the Messiah you are a prophet :) Guess we will never understand.

Massive turnover of players, manager not used to the league, perhaps even a "we'll romp this" attitude within the squad have contributed to the start.

As I said in May I planned to enjoy the occasion because they could easily piss the league.

Turns out we'll have a few more laughs this year

Play off semi defeat to Villa would be funny as fuck

Without mentioning defeats against the teams that finished 19th and 20th in the championship last year.

The final and losing 7-6 on pens would be better

Apparently he's realised the 'superstars' can't hack it and they need even more players of championship standard up for the fight ! Oh how things change so quickly

I couldn't understand why that really made me laugh so I read it again ...... I laughed again but I'm still not sure why it's so funny.

Nah man that just gives them hope, i want the twats to be in a f***ing relegation battle before going down. I went through 15 weeks with those f***ing smug arseholes on my recruits course when they were in their keegan heyday. We'll win the league, it's only a matter of time before we do the double, you'll never be above us again, you're not even worth thinking about man you f***ing mackem arseholes, we'll never go down ever again were a few gems they came up with. I can still see their smug pyatts 20 years later and the sickness in my stomach of thinking they could be right.

Well fuck them, i want nothing but misfortune for the wankers, i hope they freefall until they lose a derby against south shields before going bust...
