He said we should accept you are guaranteed, i replied why should we accept as theres no guarantee. Having a bet about it is ridiculous as i really dont care what yous do one way or another in the Championship.

Honestly, I think that when the expected post-relegation meltdown didn't happen it was a bit of an anti-climax. No horse punching, no smashing up the city centre, no mass protests. Positivity and hope was the overwhelming emotion on that final day.

I didn't care if Boro, Brighton or Burnley got promoted as champions, I still made predictions and had a flutter on it.
 
Newcastle will 100% be promoted. But to the original point players like Wijnaldum are a part of the reason they got relegated so hope the likes of him and sissoko stay.
Would much rather they lost Perez Townsend and Mbemba.
The only way I could fathom them not being promoted is if they start with the likes of Shelvey sissoko mitrovic etc as th only reason they will want to stay is for the pay cheque.

That but about Townsend is utter drivel mind, Sunderland especially is a much more inviting prospect than Newcastle if they were both offering similar money. 2 relegation in 7 years just stink of a yo-yo club. To say that he wouldn't move to sunderland for the threat of relegation is just plain stupid

im not certain they will go up or not, one thing I am sure of is it will be interesting to see it unfold and I am thankful we arent down there.

Or the fact people on here are embarrassing with their mag won relegation banter. They will come straight back up and be in a good position. This is why they say they're a bigger club, they've been relegated and everyone is talking about them.

The way it happened prevented any of that.

Being relegated by Sunderland, when Newcastle weren't playing, meant most people were watching Newcastle's demise on TV at home.

It may also have been quite different if Spurs had won 5-1 instead.
 
Ordinarily if Sunderland or Newcastle go down i would say that there is a high probability of them bouncing straight back up. Its simple economics the bigger grounds/crowds and the parity in ticket prices in the Championships mean more money so therefore better players. I will be surprised if they don't come straight back up. However, this year will be tricky Aston Villa are a big club as well, Norwich have been planning for this, Brighton are a strong side and Sheffield Wednesday came good with there new manager and have there own 40,000ish stadium. I would normally say 4/5 is a great bet but this year I am not so sure.

They will come straight back up but I don't they will be in a good position mind. Premier league teams will create a bigger gap between themselves and the championship this window imo

Struggling to read this to be honest, but I think you're saying that Sunderland AFC is not relegation threatened? Not to pick at a wound, but you've fought (successfully) against relegation for the majority of the last 10 seasons haven't you? I think it's reasonable for people to view Sunderland as relegation threatened. It may not be wholly accurate as it doesn't take Allardyce into account, but most neutrals/casual observers would surely view you as a side that is often relegation threatened?

Yeah that what's key, despite 9 consecutive seasons I still don't even feel we have established ourselves due to constant relegation battles. Think that will change this season with Sam
