Even so, you obviously didn't watch the Swansea game as the were shite, Palace would have been yet another two points dropped had an ex player not passed back to the keeper. They showed good character against Liverpool and played well against a poor City team, agreed. Spurs was a glorified post season friendly.

There's no point me debating with such extreme bias, so I'm gonna call an end to it here. Feel free to claim the "win" if you want, and call me a mag, or an apologist etc...
 

Interesting times ahead for the Mags if the Waiter sins as expected. Do they go big, invest heavily in 'talent' which could get them back up or do they invest in players with Championship pedigree who know the league and what to expect on a Tuesday night at Rotherham?

If they go big, how do you attract the 'talent' to the Championship with no guarantee of promotion - surely only through cash, which could of course spiral Leedsesq if it all goes wrong.

Benitez messed up at Villa, he kept the more solid formation that he had implemented (rightly) to keep them in games against sides with more quality. He didn't change it at Villa which he should of.
I'm glad he didn't but his safety first policy was a massive factor in them not winning at Villa which killed them with our Chelsea victory.

Benitez and the mags have 2 significant challenges in the Chamionship IMO -

1) Can Benitez be more expansive when his side have more quality than almost every opponent?
2) how will the enormous expectations for next season affect the team?

The reception he got is because we've had some horrific managers since Robson (bar Hughton to be fair) and Benitez is an exceptional manager. We couldn't believe that a manager who's won things all over the shop would come to a Mike Ashley owned, Lee Charnley run, relegation facing, Newcastle United.

That his name goes well with a chant goes a long way too :lol:

Yeah he messed up at Villa, as I've already said (although tbf, even had they won it wouldn't have kept them up).

Agree it'll be interesting to see how he handles it next season, much different challenge to what he's used to although he'll be used to expectations and a big quality gulf (plenty of teams he's managed has had them).

i would argue that the first 10 games are like a honeymoon period. There will be an inevitable slump in form after that. Realistically Rafa would have needed 25 games to make at real impression.

Not only that, I reckon that Tottenham would have gone on to win the game had Sissoko not took a leaf out Tom Daleys Diving book. I'm sure that Penalty (Non-Penalty) sickened the life out of the players.

It's amazing how many teams we play at their worst, but when you win the opposition were superb

Not convinced there'll be that much of a "quality gulf" between The Mags / Norwich / Villa, not to mention Derby / Brighton / Hull etc. The Mags' squad was pisspoor for most of last season and fuck knows how they'll attract anything other than sub-par signings to the Championship.

I can. Champions League salary with a Championship job. They money he is getting paid is scandalous and is the main reason why he is coming back. This 'Love' for the club is a load of bull. All your managers seem to say the same things and ultimately getting moved on.
