Rafael Benítez

Looking forward to Allardyce's opening 10 game record being extrapolated for the whole season too

So the great and wonderful Benitez only got 1 point more in his marvellous run?

How did Rafa get on in his last 2 jobs? World class managers don't end up at relegated or also ran clubs in England.

One point less, not bad (even more so since he had a far less talented squad on paper to work with). Did he play the three bottom teams in the league in that time?

Goalposts moved. He played one of them.

Pretty sure he played the bottom three in the rest of his bang-average performance for the season.

I see you "skillfully" avoided any reference to Allardayce's last dozen games of the season, you know when he actually had his own players / squad in situ. But carry on.

Why should I allow Allardyce a 'luxury' that Benitez never had?

Pointless making a comparison then, although for all of Benitez' managerial nouse he couldn't muster a win against Norwich or Villa. He can at least try again next season.

Exactly, that's no great achievement.

Aye, the greatest achievement all is taking over with 10 games to go and failing to beat any of your relegation rivals despite having three of them to play. Losing ground on the team that finished 4th bottom in the process.

Very well done Rafa, enjoy your statue.

Why use it as a stick to beat him with then if we can't draw comparisons with newly-installed managers that finished in and around us (above us in this instance)?

Is the statue the strawman you have built?

That's what I thought. Also 15 wins in the season would be cracking.

Aye, I think we forgot for a second that he's a deluded mag therefore to accept only 15 wins in a season shows no ambition. Much better to get in a real star manager or legend to take them down instead. I guess we just divvant understttannndd.

Putting it another way, do you seriously believe he's the right person to get you out of the Championship and if so, on what basis ?

So that would pan out at
P38 W15 / 16 D0 L22/23
I'd settle for that though I'm sure there'd be a few draws in there somewhere.
