Same was said last time we went down. Bear in mind the gutless arseholes that took us down then, were much the same as the confident arseholes that took us up the very next season. I agree that if the team turns up expecting everybody to roll over to get their tummy tickled, we'll struggle. But whomever is in charge I don't think that will be the case. Certainly wasn't last time.

Doubt if you'll get £10m, lucky to get £5m for Krul, into the last year of his contract and been injured for 2 years. Can't seee Cisse joining a PL club, great goalsorer, shocking workrate, maybe China, will be on big wages? Tiote in the last year of his contract, may well see it out! Riviere and Gouffran you may be stuck with as I can't see a PL club buying them and wages too big for anyone else, probably loan them at best. Townsend and Perez will attract interest. Mitrovic will miss 25% of the season through suspension.

Ok for them to say no fire sale but Its whose nerve holds longest. As you say last year of contract makes clubs vunerable as we know to our cost. Sods law that the players they want to keep are most likely to leave, eg Townsend

Krul is rated on the continent. But yeah I figured the minute I put arbitrary numbers in the post people would argue it. The overriding point was that we'll get a lot of money from player sales.

Cisse will go to China (he was expected to go in January) ditto Tiote.
Riviere and Gouffran aren't on massive wages and they're as likely to go to a foreign league.
Mitrovic isn't the liability he's made out to be. He's only had 2 reds and 4 yellows. He's definitely got the devil in him. He got a reputation yellow in his 2nd game, then a soft red against Arsenal (still a red, but one that you've seen players get away with), but after that he got 1 yellow against Stoke and one in the derby.

In relative terms I don't think you will get a lot of money. It's very different when you're looking to offload players. As we've found out to our cost. I do expect you to be paying top dollar for any Championship players you buy, as there will be a premium because you're newcastle. Prices will rise everywhere this summer but you can afford it with the parachute payments and sales. No excuses for not bouncing straight back as far as I can see.

I can't see Townsend staying, best solution would be a season long loan. It looks like he's forced his way into the England squad and he'll want to stay there. He's entering the peak years of his career and has spent way too much time on the bench at Spurs and has already racked up plenty of football league appearances as a loan player. He really needs to play premier league football. A loan spell to someone like Palace, Stoke Southampton, West Ham would let the lad get the standard of football he needs to push himself and stay in the England squad. You'd also get a few million loan fee and his substantial wages covered. If you do come back up he can come back into the fold, you'd have a ready made winger there without having to find one.

Colin Wanker in advanced talks with Blackburn Rovers, if he sines they will figure prominently in the Championship next year; Norwich will do well, as will Derby if they get a manager and the remaining of Hull/Wednesday; Villa can't be discounted having a new billionaire owner. Talk of anybody pissing the League next season is hyperbolic, imho, if not hyperbollox.

I genuinely don't think they would be but I accept their ability isn't in question. Agger is playing for Brondby for the last two seasons and the standard over there leaves a lot to be desired. I lived in Copenhagen and seen quite a bit in 2013. Add to his injury record I think the championship will be too intense for his body to cope....Same goes for Carrick. This of course is my own opinion and may well end up eating humble pie.
