Brave move by both parties. There will be huge pressure on them to come back up at the first attempt.

Not his territory. Anything could happen but if I were one of them it wouldn't be my choice.

It's a strange one. If you believe the Mail story, he is already identifying his transfer targets but I doubt Rafa will know much about the Championship

Who give a shit? He failed to keep them up despite having ample opportunity to do so. He will lose his "better" players in the summer and will be in new territory playing his brand of football in the hardest league he has ever played in. Best of luck to him

Benitez teams have long had a reputation for struggling to break down well-organised sides who happy to let the opposition have the majority of the possession, he'll come up against that pretty much every week in the Championship.

Honestly think he'll be a disaster in that league.

He's got a few to offload too. He clearly didn't fancy Shelvey.

Basically they are asking a trophy manager to offload deadwood and then rebuild with limited funds. If it works, fair play to them. If it doesn't, they are fucked as Rafa will be on a fortune

It will be a bit of a coup for them as such, but with his family in England and his words so far, I think he will stop. It all depends who wants to leave etc but I think in that league you need characters ready to roll their sleeves up. They should come straight back up with the players they have, but having a tactical european manager isnt really a plus in that division.

He will need a massive turn around in players, they didn't have any fight for the premier league, they will be fucked in the championship

Wish the chronicle would gan bust. Sick of their persistent magedia. It's none stop. Must have mentioned Rafa holds positive talks about 2000 tiles in 72 hours.

Might aswell just put the mags in play off final now and save a season of nailed on wins and toonsend and Mitro smashing the championship up

When this fails, thet're going to be struggling to find someone to blame.

Doesn't matter if he stays or goes really, a potential champions league winning club like them should piss the championship no matter who's in charge.
