Rafael Benítez

Compare and contrast: Carver, McClaren, Pardew, Kinnear........Benitez. It's hope, not much granted but it's a shite sight better than what's been in charge for years. If he signs then the place will be buzzing for the right reasons for a change.

Thinking you were too good for Pardew, the manager that took you to fifth and has taken teams to two FA Cup finals, has always amused me.

Pardew would probably still have you in the top 10.

Do you buy that stuff though? I don't think it works that way any more. If he gets offered the Spain job, or the Valencia job he will be off.......he probably won't get offered them though because his star is on the wane much like Newcastle's. In that sense they're made for each other.
No I think it's ridiculous that he uses that phrase but the NE press pack are in full fawning Geordie nation mode ..

Pardew's performances since Boxing Day at Palace prove my point. He's horseshit, always has been, always will be.

Benitez is a big name, but the fat twat plays safety first football. Tiote and Colback playing together shows you that.

If he stays it will be because his stock has fallen so low after being sacked so many times that the mags is the last chance saloon.

He may well get them up but they'll have fallen behind and he'll play turgid football to try to make them hard to beat. The deluded arseholes will be hounding him out within 2 years.

I think he'll get you back up no problem but the way your lot are fawning over him is weird to be honest.

He couldn't get more than a point from games against us, norwich and villa. Set up in the crucial game against the worst team in the league, by far, like all he wanted was a draw. A couple of solid draws against below par liverpool and man city teams who were playing in Europe days later and a big win against a spurs side shot to bits when it couldn't have mattered less and he's being hailed as some sort of all conquering savior.

It can only be because the fans are desperate for a big name in charge to keep the club relevant as you play the likes of Burton and Rotherham.
Picture posted earlier of sign wanting "Raffa" to stay confirming their desire for a bigger name

Pardew had you comfortable in December, imagine if he got £30m to spend in that Jan window! but still hounded out
Big Sam hounded out when comfortable, Rafa a hero for 2 points off the other 3 from bottom 4?
Fair play to you for coming on here mind--respect:cool:

Seriously?

Seriously?

He's always been known for that hasn't he?....or is this an irony alert because we have Allardyce?

If so the difference is that so long as he's doing ok here people will give Allardyce time........unlike certain other NE fans. His football hasn't been anywhere near as bad as I'd expected thus far and I have never liked him. I'm hoping he's learned his lesson and doesn't go out and buy a team of rugby players this summer.

The big concern for them is that they are awful away from home. I thought Villa away was a given for them but they couldn't even do that. Villa will struggle in the championship with the team they have. Who's to say their away form will just change like that. I honestly don't think they can make wholesale changes unless they sell players.

Seriously?

First half against Sunderland. Soton away, Villa away, one upfront, replaced one striker for another. 5 away games, 2 points, like watching Brazil :)

Liverpool were a functional side, with some very good players but he played Lucas every single week. Just because Stevie G single handedly dragged them back from 3 down to win the European cup that makes Rafa a genius? The fat lump started Harry Kewell who had a f***ing stinker and luckily he got injured so had to be replaced. History has glossed over many of his short comings.

Pardew's performances since Boxing Day at Palace prove my point. He's horseshit, always has been, always will be.

He's only been able to put his actual best side out 8 times this season and Bolasie/Zaha/Wickham all got injured when they were on a good run of form. Any side would struggle.

Look how city managed without De Bruyne.

He's not "big" enough for them. That's the top and bottom of it. They want a trophy manager as they'll never get near any actual trophies.

The fat Spanish waiter is without doubt bigger than Pardew.

On Saturday he could be holding the FA Cup while you are in the Championship.

As I always said, be careful what you wish for with that 'Pardew out' crack.

I don't like Pardew the man's a cock but the mags policy of buying young, promising players and selling them on for a profit, Kebab, Debuchy (both overrated) etc. was f***ing nuts. A manager having his best players sold from underneath him with no real say in who would replace them is madness.

It was always likely to end in tears but that was less down to Pardew and more down to the mags way of running the club.

must have went to a bigger club at Palace then to keep them up--whey yer bugger horseshit manager keeps Palace up, ex England manager and Rafa the king take toon doon

I agree. He's proven at the premier league level aswell so I can't see what the mags even want.

They say they're 'the least demanding fans' and only want 'a team that tries'. From what I witnessed they had a team that was competitive under Pardew despite selling their best players as you say.

If it's negative football that they took issue with then I can't see why they're begging Rafa to stay when all he does is 6 back defending (4 defenders and 2 DMs) then 4 attackers trying to win the game in the second half. They must have been woeful in every first half under him bar the freak game on Sunday.

They're purely obsessed with names and perceived stature.

Rafa is holding out for assurances before committing to a long term deal, but looks set to put pen to paper.

Ashley keen to keep him on, the plan is to try and hold onto as many first team players as possible and get promoted at the first time of asking.

High risk strategy from Mike?

Source: someone at the club

So to summarise . . . the mags are keen to hold onto a manager with no proven ability at Championship level, utilising a group of players also with no proven ability at Championship level, in the hope that this will enable them to make an immediate return to the Premier League, the league where that same group of players have already proven themselves to be wholly ineffective.

I don't see any problems with that plan at all.
