Great post mate ......... Allardyce did what the Mags claim Rafa is great at, getting the best out of players.

Half of our team looked like basket cases under Advocaat but Allardyce kept his cool and made the likes of PVA look class.

Absolutely. I don't think Sam is perfect, he does things that irritates the shit out of me. But the other aspects more than make up for it. He's given Rafa a masterclass lesson in man management.

Rafa didn't have enough time to keep them up apparently hes only had 10 games (9 played so far) , won 2 drawn 4 lost 3 = Relegated

Di Canio did it with 7 games - 2 wins 2 draws 3 defeats = Safe
Advocaat did it with 9 games - 3 wins 3 draws 3 defeats = Safe

This Rafa arse licking is as cringing as when he was appointed and the Mags told us that was that ....... Sunderland relegated

They failed to register a corner at Villa

This. They went out with a whimper against the worst club in the league by a considerable margin.

Not much sign there of the mighty transformation that Rafa had brought about which would have seen them safe if only it had taken place a bit sooner.

And if comes to rewriting what would have happened if action had been taken earlier - why, surely we'd have a few more point if Sam had got here sooner.

I don't think he's done that bad a job to be honest, but you can't really argue he's done too well only taking a couple of points from the games against us, Villa and Norwich.

Like I said somewhere else I think he'd have kept them up if it was maybe any other year. This year he's had to contend with us who have looked nothing like relegation battlers for a long time, we've only lost once since February.

The fat prick has been sacked from his last 5 jobs and even thought it was a good idea to do this

Benitez lasted all of half a season at Madrid after being fired in January despite only being in the job since the summer.

An indicator as to why his spell was so short, El Pais (via ) have reported that early on in Benitez’ tenure, he sent Ronaldo a USB drive loaded with pictures and videos for the Portuguese striker to study to help him better lose his marker.

Apparently, Ronaldo did not take Benitez up on his offer to improve his game and, instead, returned the USB drive with the message: “Tell Benitez that I’ll send him a USB drive with all my goals on it for him to study.

What a f***ing idiot

It's their lie, they can tell it any way they want... but the one thing they can't twist is, the fact Poyet and Advocaat with same amount of games and a harder run in and got the job done. If it was anyone else who did what Benitez did they would be protesting their asses off. When McClaren was failing it was "the players are too good to go down, McClaren doesn't know what he's doing" when Benitez failed it was "the players are gutless" "too little too late"...the mags are so full of shit, all this is is mental masturbation...I hope to hell they give Benitez full reign! His history with recruitment and leaving clubs worse off is there for everyone to see except the blinkered mags.

No matter what excuses the Mags may use, that's the truth ........... he failed.

History being re-written as we speak.

Has he been a success? No. He has took them down.

I thought this new manager bounce was a recipe for success especially in the derby.
He has been terrible.

We should have beaten them.
He couldn't beat Norwich or villa
Liverpool should have buried them by ht
Swansea ripped The bastards apart and missed a few sitters
Palace missed a pen
man city couldn't pass water that day, Newcastle were equally as shit

That's seven of the nine that I can think off.

According to one of their Facebook pages he's staying 2 years minimum . The poster has even said he Willclose the group if he's wrong he's that convinced .

@The Fish is arguing that if he had two more games he would have kept them up.

We're four points ahead of them and have only lost once in our last ten, to the champions. We'd have to lose our last two (imaginary) games and they'd have to win both of theirs because of our superior GD

Similar to us over Dick, at least he kept us up.

I'll be honest, I didn't quite get the fawning over Advocaat at the time either. Although, yeah, he got the job done, so it's more merited than the current Benitez stuff.

That's not me being revisionist btw - given I was one of the ones who thought signing Defoe was short-sighted

2 wins in 9 games. "The New Messiah"

Benitez' 9 games: 2W, 4D, 3L, 11GF, 11GA, 0GD, 10pts (3 clean sheets)
Sam's first 9 games: 3W, 0D, 6L, 10F, 15A, -5GD, 9pts (3 clean sheets)

Benitez' last five: 2W, 3D, 0L, 7GF, 6GA, +1GD, 9pts (3 clean sheets)
Sam's last five: 3W, 2D, 0L, 10F, 3A, +7GD, 11pts (3 clean sheets)

He certainly wasn't the "Messiah" but he is a good manager. Had we not drawn all those games in March while he was putting his stamp on the Mags it would have been really tight. Our pulling out two great performances against Chelsea and Everton had more to do with their demise than their failure to win at Villa. There's no guarantee that given more time he would have saved them, but if he had come in sooner it surely would have been closer.

We had them beat until extra time...also Southampton. The "IF'S" are just that...hopefully he stays, then we can enjoy more bedsheets and bad spelling.

Based on the Ashley statement, I've got a feeling he's told them to get fucked but they won't announce that until after Sunday.

I do think the media strategy about positive talks could be about preventing a mass kick off on Sunday.

If Rafa is making lots of demands Fat Mike tends not to like such people

Yeah but no but yeah but if Sam had come in earlier we'd probably not have lost five in a row in December
