At least half of the squad will either be sold off or will want out. It doesn't matter where you look they have problems

Please stay Rafa, it could be hilarious
Just chopped your post, but this 100% they really do need to sort a shitload out, it's all a bit of a shame really :lol::lol:

It's still funny to me when he came in, most of the media were saying "can he do what previous Sunderland managers have done by winning the Derby in their second match and avoiding relegation".

No problem mate.

The Benitez myth is being honed by the respected sports journalists at the Chronicle as we speak.

The latest,

"If the ditherers upstairs had sacked the inept McClaren earlier and bussed in Benitez it would have been so different. Instead all Ashley and his cohorts have bequeathed to Geordies is the agony of two relegations. No silverware and precious little hope."

No evidence, no room for argument of facts ......... the Geordie Nation just plunge headlong into yet another Messiah cult.

No wonder supporters of other clubs have started regarding them as pathetic deluded loons

Even Real Madrid have managed to salvage something from their wreck of a season when FSW was there and will potentially go on the win the CL.

I know it's completely bizarre the it's being reported
By the end of the season he will have had 10 games and more than likely acculmulated 10 points in that time. Over the course of a season that might be enough to keep you up. He's failed to win any of the bigger games vs Us, Norwich and Villa.

Last season DA won 12 points from 9 games which undoubtedly saved us, when PDC kept us up he won 8 points from 7 games which again was what we required.

He has failed at NUFC yet you would believe he had made monumental improvements.

I was no longer bothered about the Newcastle - Spurs game ......... after reading some of this airbrushing shite I hope Spurs smash them all over the park ;)

Di Canio 7 games 8 points = safe + derby win!
Gus last 10 games 13 points= safe! (obviously was there a lot longer but using as a comparison)
Big Dick 9 games 12 points= safe + Derby win!
Rafa 9 games 8 points = relegated + Derby draw!!
Step forward the new messiah!!!

Benitez has 10 points. Rest is right, like.

So there really is a Geordie Nation.

Being peddled here that the way he's turned things around has enhanced his reputation :rolleyes::lol:

That's just a begging letter from Benitez to Everton isn't it, 'Get me out of here!'

"Rafael Benitez would consider the prospect of succeeding Roberto Martinez as Everton manager if approached, though he was on Thursday night weighing up whether to lead Newcastle United’s attempts to return to the Premier League."

Everything to do with NUFC seems to be tainted with delusion and hysteria ....... why can't they just be normal?

"Despite Newcastle’s relegation, Benitez’s reputation has been enhanced by his two months on Tyneside where, after turning the side around, he has seen the side go undefeated in the last five games. His success as a Champions League winning manager has stemmed from a shrewd ability to get the best from players. It has been the same at Newcastle."

Well Mick Lowes when interviewed on BBC News blamed the players? Personally I think its their fans fault, for being f***ing deluded:cry::cry:

He's right.

But Ashley is the fall guy for their supporters. The players can just cower away and get away with it. Its f***ing genius.

Ashley has had them in the top ten wage bills when in the PL. He bankrolled them in the Championship last time as well.

They whinge like fuck about advertising hoardings. But they've no problem with the interest free loan on the £280m or so that he is owed from them.

Meanwhile the likes of Sissoko strolls round being bone idol game after game but is Ashley's fault. Hilarious man.

...... is crystallising.

Bit by bit, thanks to the likes of Thewliss and the rest of the media, the myth is being carved in stone that 'if only Rafa had come in a month earlier' they would've avoided relegation and would now be starting the march to glory ...... well it's bollocks.

Under McClaren the cry was always 'loads of quality, just need a little organisation', I saw it posted on here dozens of times.

When Benitez was appointed he repeated that 'fact' and pointed out why they would stay up. "We need to give the players confidence. I know we have ability,” he says, "I’m here because I believe we’re good enough to stay in the Premier League.”

He was given huge wages and an open hand to do whatever it took to save the club from relegation.
He said he could do the job, with that squad, in the time he had.
Tufty was derided for insisting they were improving ......... Newcastle were rubbish against Villa but it isn't the fault of the latest Messiah, no sir.

In reality, whatever the claims that he's 'tightened up the defence' or 'instilled a new ethic' they're still shite.

The facts, rather than the fiction, are that since he arrived Newcastle have failed against Sunderland, Norwich & Villa. The new improved defence conceded 8 goals in the 3 away games before Villa and they only managed 3 on target shots at Villa Park ........ Villa had conceded an average of 3 goals in the 5 previous games.

In a game Newcastle simply had to win, Benitez got the tactics, selection and substitutions wrong.

So now Ashley has to take the blame, as usual, because King Rafa was 'brought in too late'.

I truly hope he stays, as everyone seems to be praying for, and makes a complete fuck up as he's done so far.

I think he did improve things to be honest.
We were more organised and are unbeaten in 5. The main issues for me are/were.....

1. We drew against City when we had the opportunity to win.
2. He got the tactics so wrong at Villa in a game, you correctly state, we simply had to win.
3. He seemed not to realise / ignored the fact we do not have a goalscorer.

Had he been appointed earlier would we have stayed up?

Perhaps. However i believe that would be dependant upon us catching Norwich and Bournemouth or Palace because Sunderland were improving just as quickly, if not more so, than us.
Also and crucially, in Defoe, you have the goalscorer we so lack.

Is this the silverware they were awash with under previous regimes?

He was averaging over a point a game, which would have been enough to keep us up if he was here earlier

Some fair points as always mate.

Of course there was an improvement and, as you're obviously well aware, I just post certain things to wind up the Wums.

He was brave with the players he left out but showed a bad side when he left Shelvey out against Villa and blew a great chance.
When you look at the few Newcastle chances they were either hopeful crosses 'to the big lad' or a hoof into the box that he fluffed. Colback's golden chance came from a cross that landed at his feet via an air shot.

Benitez didn't even start going for the game until we were beating Chelsea which was a bit cowardly against a team that was in a huge losing streak.

Hope he does stay tbh. He's gonna get a culture shock in the championship. They'd be better off with someone who's got experience of that league.

It was obvious, against Villa and Palace, that the 'Rafa effect' was running out of steam with only a handful of decent attempts on goal.

If he'd been brought in earlier there's nothing to suggest that wouldn't have happened sooner.

To be honest the mags have been really lucky that they were still within a shout of staying up so late in the season. If we had picked up more points that were deserved such as Newcastle away, Southampton away, WBA home they would have been gone weeks ago.

This relegation battle has flatted them a bit.
