Burton Albion v Newcastle

Soton is a decent side with results against Villa, mags are not

Massive difference between Southampton and the mags mind.

Before today, Southampton had only taken 2 points more than Newcastle over the last 6 games.

People have been banging on saying how easy it'll be because teams are "on the beach" - today proves exactly why that sort of assumption is bollocks.

What about the last 36 games?

All they had to do today was beat a Southampton team with nothing to play for and they'd have done just that. How did that work out for them?

Soton have a very good chance of getting in the Europa league. If Man Utd win the FA Cup that opens another spot up.

Soton tortured the mags a few weeks ago. They scrapped a very lucky 3-1 defeat.

You'll be wrong, they'll frustrate the fuck out of us and if we were to win it will be by one goal.

You'll win 2 or 3-0 imo. Everton were godawful last night and Joel was smiling at Vardy when he let the penalty past him.

 Threads like this should be deleted by the mods immediately. No need for them until we are mathematically safe.

Why is that relevant to now, exactly? Form at this stage of the season is everything, and while people may be desperate to get all excited about us relegating the mags, absolutely nothing is certain. Newcastle have 2 wins and 3 draws in their last 5 games and there's nothing to suggest they won't get a result next weekend either.

If we lose or even draw on Wednesday night, it won't be Sunderland feeling confident going into the final day, especially not if Norwich beat Watford, but aye it's f***ing class we're stopping up (even though it's not actually guaranteed unless we win our next game, but let's go on like we already have.)

I absolutely agree with this. We're in a very strong position right now but the job isn't definitely over. I personally believe we've got enough points now to be safe but I won't be celebrating until it's impossible for us to drop.

How many games have the mags lost since?

Form is temporary, class is permanent.

I don't care about current form.

Southampton are a much better side than Newcastle this season.
