Jermaine Defoe - Poorest signing in recent memory

I was unimpressed with Defoe when he first came here, he didn't look fit and it was fairly obvious he was bereft of confidence.

Form is temporary, class is permanent.

He's talking about Defoe as a signing, and that he was signed without any plan as to how we might accommodate him. It's a valid point. If we spent our entire summer transfer budget on Jesus Navas, it'd simultaneously be the case that Navas is our best player and Navas is a bad signing.

We didnt pay anything for him though. We didn't blow any transfer budget. we swapped him for jozy altidore.

We got rid of altidore and gained jermaine defoe. You don't need to plan for accommodating a system if that swap is on the cards. You get rid of a dolt and gain a goalscorer.
