Not too bothered about Benitez. Just a pity Tufty couldnt have lasted a few more games. Getting Benitez will surely improve their team selection, tactics, spirit etc, but I'd have been more gutted if the mags had went for Moyes or even Pearson.

Decent coach, but he's always had jobs where top class players were already in place. It'll be Brown Alert on the training ground when he sees what he has available to him, and realises the pressure down the bottom is every bit as debilitating as at the top.

Players infighting, crowd restless. This isn't a magic wand.

He'll get the full backing of the crowd imo. Even regardless of what happens a week Sunday. Rightly so too .

Yet the board who have gone out and brought him to your club will get no credit what ever if he does well.

I totally give them credit for making the best possible appointment on this occasion.

If by some miracle we stay up then, again, the credit is there if the summer recruitment shows a definitive change in policy.

They've restored a semblance of good feeling after today. Only from the sewer to the gutter, mind. But its a forward step.

Not as good as BSA...Rafa will be looking at no name players that have value in the summer. Different market I believe he is in experienced not even on the same page as he been buying at the very top of the market world class players.. To be honest they would have been better with Bruce.

For the record I don't think he has a chance of saving us as the players are too shit.

However you are blinkered and delusional if you think Allardyce is better then Benitez.

When Allardyce was appointed Sunderland were one place above Newcastle in the league, which is still the case.

If Sunderland stay up this season or go down, he will be sacked within another 6 months. There is only so much you can take of setting up for a draw at home to newly promoted teams.

Jesus the jealousy on this thread man. If we got him as manager we would be wanking ourselfs silly. Take of the red and white specs for a second. Hired a very very good manager. Shame it's to late though eh

I would be worried if Sunderland got Rafa, short term may work but would not want him to be in charge of a sustained transfer policy. ;)

If you honestly think the mags are going to give him full control of transfers your having a laugh. May of said it to him but i doubt it. If he keeps them up he will end up quitting after car and co fuck him off.

I thought he was given full control?

I can't say I've followed his career that closely so can't really comment on that side of it but for me regardless of who they brought in its down to the players, not just ability wise but how they respond and whether they want to.
They clearly haven't bothered their arses for two years and bringing a new manager in doesn't guarantee they will. The NE journalists are over the moon that he's brought them in to train on their day off, but what if that pisses them off, rather than inspires them. What if they aren't arsed because they want away anyway,
I'm not saying any of this is the case just that a more disciplined manager is no guarantee the players will respond to that discipline. It can have the opposite effect to its intention.
PDC, with his style of management got two wins was it? Mags and Everton? Im not comparing PDC to Rafa either, just using it as an example.
Other than that of course he needs to turn Colo and Taylor into defenders somehow.
