Newcastle Manager Situation

Their defence is horrendous and they struggle to score goals.

Is that because McClaren was a poor manager or because their players are poor?

Im not saying that their players are great because they arent but its clear that they are underperforming and McClaren has lost the dressing room.

When a new manager comes in you will get a spark and an energy that hasnt been there for the past few weeks or months and that can be the difference.

We know better than anyone from the Di Canio, Poyet & Advocaat reigns that you can end up getting a tune out of the very worst of players temporairly, Coates looked like Rio Ferdinand in his prime against Arsenal away last year..

Reported in Spain he's agreed a 3 year deal

In all seriousness, the bloke must be f***ing mental. It's not a magic wand and we're still in the shit up to our necks but at least it gives us a chance. With McClaren we were dead in the water.

And some people are ridiculous with their bias towards Newcastle ........ I'll leave you lot to wring your hands together.

Not at all

But you are a total headcase if you think Steve McLaren is a better manager than him

I don't believe you actually think that, just won't admit it because it is Newcastle

Many teams get a new manager bounce but not all. If I was a Newcastle fan my biggest concern would be the complete lack of leaders in their team.

We have players like O'Shea, Larsonn and Cattermole, who have been around the block and survived relegation battles before. They do not appear to have anybody in that mould at all. You need leaders on the pitch as well as in the dugout and I just don't see any.

I think the differences between our previous upturn in fortunes compared to the mags this season though is the mentality of the players.

They seem to have a big attitude problem and we had leaders like O'Shea, Brown, Cattermole, Bardsley and Larsson.
Then last season we had Defoe.

I think their defence is the worst in the league and no matter what tactics you have in place if you have Steven Taylor you're likely to let in goals.

I hope your right!

If we did win the Derby then it would be an almighty blow to their new found confidence and belief.

It proves that, in this case, people who think a new manager doesn't make any difference aren't, frankly, mental.
Statistically it doesn't make half as much difference as people think, as results will revert to mean -

Apparently they've got Mbemba back for the derby which is a slight improvement
