Adam Johnson Trial Verdict

The crimes had been committed, evidence was shared with Byrne. He was on the field being cheered on by children. It was plain wrong and if it was another club you would be saying the same thing. Take the rose tinted glasses off and accept that the club have made a grave error of judgement.

The club need to offer an apology, Byrne needs to go and then we can move on.

There is not a doubt in my mind that if this was Newcastle, people who are sticking up for the club would be lauding it up. Not a shadow of a doubt.

I can't understand why more hasn't been made of it!

In the witness box she revealed she had asked how old his then accuser was as soon as police arrived at their £1.5m mansion. She had been the one to answer the door to the officers.

He told her she “said she was 16”. In reality, he knew the girl had only recently turned 15.

Given, it now transpires, that she knew he was involved with other women it just seemed a very strange question to ask, unless she knew more about what was going on in his life than has been revealed so far.

Thoughts?

Why? We are adults and you said I was being sensationalist. So, for clarity, I thought I would type out exactly what he has been convicted of. I have no idea why you dont seem to find it disgusting and seem to be lessening his offense by asking others if they would be ok with females have a grope when they were 15.
I find it pathetic what he's done but I think it's fair to ask how people would react if the situation happened to them. It's an obvious question and pertinent as can be. Why won't you answer?

We both know why you worded the sentence the way you did. Let's at least be honest here.

I bet they don't and absolute crap about the club need to train players. I am sick to death of this idea that people aren't responsible for their actions. We all know right from wrong and if we choose to ignore our moral compass then we deserve whatever punishment is given and it's no - one's fault but our own.
No it's not crap

These players are in a bubble and get attention from young children

They should have private social media and be told to report any instances that could lead to difficult situations.

Not for their benefit but for the benefit of children!

The situation is that he wasn't drunk or confused on a nightclub!

He sought her out continually and when she requested him he realises it was the girl he, Johnson, had fancied since she was 14. His own confession.

If that happened to anyone else then they would deserve the same!

I slag Newcastle off cos I like it. Sense and morality plays little part in it. For instance, I was git high and mighty about Ryan Giggs going with his lasses brother but in reality I just thought it was funny and he was a dick anyway. See John Terry for further details. It's just football top trumps.
My mag uncle said I should be ashamed of my club yesterday. I mean ffs man, I couldn't stop laughing.

Very few are saying he doesn't deserve to be punished man, are you saying most people are defending what he's done because he's a footballer

We're in a danger of developing a persecution complex the Scousers would envy at this rate.

The clubs fucked up.
In the case of the """" in the echo
Hes trying to work an angle to get something. .. what thst is is open to conecture but i reckon its either a bit
Of easy publicity or even freebies

Who the fuck knows but we are being baited by the press.... tarring anybody associated with gult by association

Adam johnson will get what he deserves
Byrne should fall on her sword

I guess it looks that way. I'm not really saying that, I'm saying it's not the same as an attack with an entirely unwilling victim, so the terms that are being thrown around to describe AJ are inappropriate. She's a 'victim' because she hadn't turned 16. That's the law, AJ will pay for his crime. In reality, prison won't even be 10% of his punishment.

If the girl is genuinely traumatised by the encounters, then naturally she has my sympathy. Only she knows how she feels, but I'm guessing the trial and media attention in the case may have been more traumatic for her.

15 or 16, neither age is appropriate to make an informed decision of sexual consent IMO, they're still kids. 18 would be better.
That's what grooming is for goodness sake you clown!

After grooming the victim becomes willing.

AJ was halfway there given his position in society.

Willing or unwilling 15 years old!

Do you work for the club? are you considering your position or waiting for complete disclosure before deciding on your position?

She has got a fairly easy ride from the press IMO

I'm not sure about false outrag but I'd certainly call it false outrage. Taking the word of a noted liar or his brief over the word of the club for me smacks of a desperation to be outraged. Not just you but quite a few of our so called supporters who without any proof that the club have acted badly are on this thread to put the boot in. Based on nothing but conjecture of course, no hard evidence but hey who gives a fuck about proof.

Fair point....but the club has had and has every opportunity to remove the ambiguity
